More Than Friends~

"Hey Cole!" I called out excitedly, as I plopped down in the seat beside him.

He looked up from his textbook. "Hey..."

It had already been a full month, and let's just say, we became rather close...

We would often hang out with each other, and sometimes we had our own private parties along with just him, me, Mariah, and Jack....

Everyday was pretty much the same, and we were all just friends. Great friends, you might say... Or even best friends. But it was never anything more than that...

Until today...

I noticed that Cole had been acting rather awkward this particular day, but I paid no mind to it, thinking that maybe he was just stressing out over an upcoming test or something... How wrong I was...

It was nothing of the sort... In fact, it was nothing even close that that...

It was something else... Something that I never would've expected...

"Meet me at the park at five," he had whispered to me softly that day, before the final bell rung, and we left for home....

I watched his back as it slowly disappeared into the crowd of rushing students. Was it my imagination, or did I see a hint of blush on his cheeks when he told me to meet him at the park?

Not thinking much of it, I grabbed my backpack, and headed home...

When five came around, I changed into my favorite blue dress, and put on my makeup, along with blue crystal earrings that dangled from my ears. I don't know what made me doll myself up like this, but something in my heart told me to do so... Today felt special... And for some weird reason, it made me happy that he had asked me to meet him at the park... I wanted to look good for him.

And so, I got into my car, and drove to the park. As I pulled in, I noticed a familiar figure waiting by the swings. I immediately hurried out of my car, and ran to him..

"Cole!" I shouted. He turned to me, and waved.

I was panting by the time I reached him. Have I mentioned how I'm not very athletic? Well, now I'm telling you, I'm not.

His grin widened as I approached. And let me just tell you, he had the cutest boyish grin ever.

"Lost staring at me again?" he asked. I gasped. Was I staring again? Wow, I really need to stop doing that.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't know I was staring." I mumbled, embarrassed.

He chuckled softly. "It's alright. In fact, I like it."

I blushed at this. Wait what? What did he just say? Why did he say that?

What does he mean by that?

"W-w-what?" I stuttered like the idiot I am.

This made him laugh.

"Hey, stop it! It's not funny!" I yelled at him, as my face reddened even more.

"Your face... " he pointed to my face as he laughed even harder.

Furious, I glared at him. "What about my face?"

"It looks like a tomato!"

"Jerk!" I screamed at him, as I slapped his arm playfully.

Later, we sat on the swings and talked. He would tell me stories about his family, and I would listen, then get mad, because his mom sounds like a total bitch.

Then, I would tell him about me and my family. He would occasionally laugh at the funny parts, and he'd ask a question about it every now and then.

Before we knew it, it had already been a couple of hours. We spent the rest of the night gazing at the stars and admiring their beauty...

Then, the most unexpected thing happened...

He suddenly got out of his swing and walked in front of me.

"What are you doing?" I asked, oblivious.

He smiled, and I could see a soft blush showing on his cheeks.

And awwww, was it adorable!

He dug in his pocket, and pulled out a tiny box.

"What is that?" I asked, smiling and eager to see what's inside.

"This," he said as he grinned at me, then pulled off the lid, and showed it to me. "Is for you."

I gasped in awe at the bracelet in his palm. It was beautiful... It was a thin, silver chain bracelet, and on it, were the letters, D-I-A-N-N-E carved neatly into it. "It's for me? Wow, it's beautiful. Thank you, Cole!"

He gently removed it with his fingers, and put it around my wrist.

I smiled at him.

"And there's something I need to tell you," he said, as he stared into my eyes.

"What is it?"

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He blushed immediately after he said this, and looked away, embarrassed.

My face heated up, and my heart quickened, pounding loudly against my chest. I couldn't believe my ears.

Is this real?

He's asking me to be his girlfriend. My breathing fastened, and suddenly it was hard to breath for me.

"Yes!" I cried, laughing.

Yep, I answered with yes, during the spur of the moment. I didn't bother thinking about the consequences of what this answer might lead to. That moment, I didn't care. I put all of my worries aside, and became his girlfriend...

But little did I know... It was my biggest mistake....

I was totally unaware of what was to come in the future...

I was foolish...

I was careless...

And I deeply regretted my actions....

But it was too late...
