Cole's P.O.V

The wind blew in my hair as I ran across the streets. I was as quick as light could have been, if I'd ever see it. I jumped and dodged anything that got in my way. I would not stop now.
Unfortunately, someone did grab me on the arm, a little sooner than I had hoped for.
The man was broad, and strong. I was sure he was wondering what he was doing there, with a filthy, homeless boy with a large sack of coins in his hand. Or maybe I was wondering that. I did not know this man, but I did recognize his outfit. I knew because no one else down here wears anything so fancy, and definitely not on a daily basis. This man was from the Above.
I lived in a large underground kingdom named Sillis. Although I wouldn't call it a kingdom. There were no rulers, or rules for that matter and everyone who lived here was almost as filthy as I was.
This man, who I have heard to be named Atticus, held my head up so he could look at me straight in the eyes. Then he asked, "What is your name, boy?" He gave me a strange look, as if to taunt me. But I wasn't budging.
"You have no right to ask my name." I said, as bravely as I could. Atticus smiled. That did start to taunt me. But I still didn't budge.
"Fool boy," he said. "I asked for your name!" He shouted loud enough for everyone to stop and stare our way. Atticus smiled apologetically, but then came to glare at me furiously. Then, he yelled, "Get him into the wagon! And remember to tie him up!" But before I could react, about ten soldiers grabbed me and pushed me into the wagon, forcing me to let go of my coins. I tried to kick, or at least spit, but you'd be surprised at how much training a soldier from above gets. I finally had to give in.
As we rode off, I looked back at my birthplace, and my home. Although I don't know if I would call it my home. Or my birthplace, for that fact. Even though I have never been out of Sillis, I knew that I had not been born here. And that this was not my home. We began riding up a steep mountain. That confused me, though, because there were no mountains underground. Unless we going up. To the above. It looks like I will see light after all.
