     "Are you Gwendolyn Winthrop?"
"Who's asking?"
As I'm shoved aside by the lady she hands be a paper.
"You are being sued."
Um.
"What? Who are you? Why?"
"I'm Cindy Langsworth. I'm representing the Chathams. They are suing for destruction of property."
This lady is now standing in my kitchen. She didn't even take off her shoes! Where does she think she is? A farm? Well I mean a lawless farm! Just because it's the countryside doesn't mean we don't have rules!
"Could I see some form of identification?"
"No."
"Get out please."
"You are still being sued."
I put my hand on her back and start to lead her out.
"I recommend getting a lawyer." She says as I push her out of my house.
"Don't tell me what to do!"
"The Chathams would like to meet and discuss property damages."
"I don't care. I said get out!"
"You're still being sued."
"You already said that."
Why won't this lady leave? I try to close the door in her face but she grabs it before it can latch.
"I wouldn't take this lightly. They are pretty upset."
"First of all I don't even know any Chathams and second I'm not just some vandal that goes around destroying things!"
"Well they clearly said that, and I quote," she pulls out an official looking note book and flips to a page somewhere towards the back of it and starts reading "we saw the girl and her Evie going around lighting things on fire. End quote"
She looked up from her note book and smirked at me.
"Wait did you say Evie?"
"Yes, I'm on my way to go find her now. You wouldn't happen to know where she lives, do you?"
Evie.
I smile pleasantly.
"No, I wouldn't. I'm sorry good luck finding her though."
"Are you sure you are not lying? They said you were lighting things on fire together. You must be pretty close."
"You're not from around here, are you?"
"No. Why?"
Because Evie is my dragon on the top floor of my tower.
"No reason. Good luck!"
I slam the door shut and run up the spiral stairs to go talk to Evie. The chess game we were arguing about a few minutes before seems so trivial now.
