It's hard to contain feelings that want to be let free
When you want to reach out to them but also flee
You go on because they're happy even though it's not with you
Though it's what you wished for it's not what they did too
You hide your pain behind a smile
And think it'll only last a while
You wonder why you never caught their eye
Maybe all their answers were just a simple lie
You cry knowing you'll never receive their love
Thinking maybe you just weren't enough
You sit awake at night wondering how to claim their heart
But think maybe it's enough to admire them like a work of art
Able to look at them but never to touch
Even if you wish for such a feeling you're not given as much
You watch them say goodbye, leave you behind and walk away
Thinking did I not give enough love to make them stay
Unrequited love is painful to say the least
Giving your heart and mind a sorrowful feast
