since noone came back for me i decided to go for a walk and explore the place a little. this place was way nicer than my house. i found the living room with a giant flat screen t.v. the remote was sitting right there. so, i gave up exploring and i watch some t.v. i never got to watch it very often at 'home' so this is new.
I was finishing Invader Zim when i realized there was someone watching it with me while standing behind me.
"I used to love this show."Destan said."May i join you?"
i shrugged."It's your house. I shouldn't have just helped my self." i stated.
"Yes you should. It's your house too now."
"Doesn't mean i still don't feel out of place, or the feeling of me betraying my real family." At this moment i couldn't hold my composure anymore. i started to cry. I cried for my mom,my dad, my grandma, and all the family that i didn't get to meet because of the over turn of our planet.
Now, here i was. I'm engaged to a vampire.
Destan stood there just staring at me. it was at least twenty minutes until i found composure again.
when i stopped crying, Destan sat down beside me. I didn't care anymore. If i had to marry him then i had to get used to being around him. so, i didn't move a muscle. I looked at him and wiped my eyes. He had this look like he actually cared. his once green eyes were now a milky brown, and full of concern. I could tell in that moment that he didn't want to ever hurt me, i could trust him, and he was going to take care of me.
At first this scared me. Then, miraculously, it comforted me. I couldn't understand why, but with this gentileness coming from him, i hugged him. I hugged him like he was the last thing i had to ever hold onto.
I don't quite understand why i did it, but it helped.
"Whisper, i wish i could tell you that it was not my fault about what happened to your family, but it was my race that caused it. I guess that makes me guilty by association. I don't ever want to hurt you, or anyone you care about. I do have a surprise for you though. Follow me if you would please?" Destan said.
We both stood up. He kept a hand on the small of my back to lead me the way, or to make sure i don't try to make a run for it. He led me down the same hallway as before, and back up the stairs. Ther was a small door on my right and we went inside it.What he had in there I didn't quite understand yet until i went through and seen what was written. The room had a candlelit chandelier, two giant book shelves, and a desk with a bunch of binders. i went to the desk and binders first. the first one i opened up, had some of my writings that i had left behind. I couldn't believe my eyes.I turned to Destan immediately.
"How-" i began and Destan interrupted.
"I knew when you told me about your writting that you had to have some place to do it at. Aveline, she could see the description that you made of your cabin back home. so, i went and picked them up for you. I could tell they all meant a lot to you. so, i decided they should stay with you." He explained.
This made me smile. I made me feel good to know that they won't just fade away into nothing in that long forgotten cabin.
"I swear, if you wasn't a vampire, i could kiss you right now. except you are. so... I trailed off the last part.
"You're right i am. Don't forget Whisper, you will be too someday." He said. With that my good mood was gone. As if he immediately sensed my being uncomfortable he said:
"Anyhow, this is your place. no one can enter this room without your say so. literally, no matter how hard they try, they can not enter. this room is linked to your desires and moods. if you want someone out, they will be until you say they can come in once again. even me." He explained.
That was totally temping to just say the word 'out' and he would be gone, but i didn't. For a vampire, he wasn't bad company. Besides, it's not like i have anyone else to talk to.
"Why? Why would you do this for me?" I asked.
"Because, as long as you are human you will need protection. I may not be around twenty-four-seven to protect you. So, this room will. The most powerful warlock put a spell on this very room. Noone can destroy it's powers. You will remain human until our wedding night. that is when you will have to be changed. I will leave you now, unless you want to go back to your room?"
"no i think i'll stay here for a while if you wouldn't mind."
"Of course. I'll check on you in an hour or two."
"Thanks." I said. He then turned on his heel and walk right out and closed the door.
I sat at the desk and began writing my thoughts, my fears, my dreams, and desires all out on paper. It only seemed like ten minutes later when i heard the door open again.
"Are you okay in here?" I heard Destan ask.
"Yes, very well." I replied.
"I hate to bother you, but my mom actually cooked for you and its ready." He seemed embarrassed about it. He was blushing under his dark brown shaggy hair. He wasn't a big guy, but we wasn't too skinny either. If he was human, i would probably be flirting with him, but he isn't.
"He lead me to the dinning room again, but instead of taking me to the kitchen he seated me at the table. It was all filled with stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls, and an entire hog was sitting in the middle with an apple in his mouth. cliche. i know.
"Who is all this food for?" I asked Destan.
"Well vampires can still eat human food. just not on a regular basis, or our instincts will over-power us, and we will feed on the first thing we see. Don't worry we all fed while you were sleeping. so, no attacks tonight. though, i will admit my mom did go overboard on dinner." He said chuckling.
"Yeah, this is enough to feed to human army's" I joked with him.
Destan pulled out a chair for me and scooted me in as i sat down. He sat at the seat right across from me.
Then two women and two men entered the room. It looked like they were gliding more than walking. One of them i recognized, was Aveline. The other women, I guessed was his mom. She rushed right over to me and hugged me. This made me feel awkward, and a little weird feeling. It was so sudden, i wasn't expecting it.
"Mom.." Destan said
She let go and turned to destan and said: "Shush. she will be my second daughter. I can't help, but feel excited."
"Mom please, don't smother her. You are making her feel uncomfortable, and i want her to NOT want to run away if you don't mind,"
When he said that it made me wonder what they have already been through.
"Whisper, you already know my sister, Aveline. This is her husband, Mark. And this great man is my father, William."
Mark was a very built man with sturdy arms. William was a exact replica of Destan. I thought only Aveline could reproduce. So, that made me wonder why they looked so much a like.
"I'll tell you later." Aveline whispered to me as she sat next to me. Mark sat across from her, Destan's mother sat at my left at the head of the table, and his father was at the other end.
Once again we ate in silence, or i thought we were going to...
