Here is my first chapter. All things in italics are when she isn't actually saying what happened. That probably sounds really confusing but yea you'll get it when you read.

Enjoy!!!!!!

chapter one

We needed to move, my mum couldn't bare to walk past the road or drive along it.

She wouldn't drive the car anymore not after he died in one.

We could of got the car fixed but it cost too much and since we were low on money there wasn't a point in it.

Also Mum wouldn't drive the car, I remember for a week after he died, whenever she looked at a car she would cry.

So driving one was never going to happen.

So this was therefore my first day at my new school, do days get any worse than that.

New people, I'm not one of those who makes friends quickly.

I'm not saying friendships just happens like *that*, though some can.

Me personally, I'm just to shy to talk to anyone, so how can I get friends.

How I still remember this, ten years back.

Who doesn't remember those years where you don't know what life is.

you don't understand anything, you think the world is perfect, that already went down the drain for me.

In those years you don't know that half of the world lives in poverty and distress.

The world is just your oyster.

The tall blue gates surrounding the school soon stood in front of me. I saw children screaming and laughing behind the gates. A loud bell went and all the children charged into the building through various different doors.

I bit my lip, as a wave of nervousness overcame me, but then excitement just jumps over again.

What if people do like me? Will the teachers be nice?

My mum took my hand but I pulled away. No way was I going to be teased on my first day about holding my mums hand, she knew I hated it.

She sighed at my actions and lead me on through the now deserted playground.

We walked to a glass door, which I suspect were the doors to the main block of the School.

I was correct. It lead into a long hall way, We walked to the end of the corridor and my mum opened a baige, wood door.

We entered a office where a man was sitting at a desk. He was staring at a computer screen. My mother coughed causing him to look up.

"Take a seat" he signed to us by stretching his arm out and pointing to two chairs with his bony finger.

That's when the wave of panic and fear tramples over me like a herd of elephants. Slowly squashing out the excitement that had contained itself in me.

I wanted to run.

I remember this day as clear as a crystal. The memories seeping into my mind.

What if people teased me about being one year older than them all.

The questions that ran through my head; What if? But?

It was to much for me to take in all at one moment.

I sat in the plush blue chair. I scanned around the room. The room was painted a soft yellow and two paintings hung in the walk behind the desk.

"You must be Mrs. Edwards" The man said looking towards my mother.

"and you are Cleo Edwards" He said to me.

I nodded nervously

It took a lot of begging to put my name down as Cleo Edwards not Atalanta Edwards. A lot of begging.

The man had fairly dark skin and dark hair. He looked aged, his face covered in wrinkles by the way he looked I would say he is like 90 but the way he spoke he sounded maybe 50 or 60.

My mum dragged me out of my endless dreams and took me out the door and down the same corridor I had entered from outside.

We went round a corner and down another corrider. It was like a frickin maze.

The office had looked so perfect but this was a diffrent story.

There was one of those itchy looking blue carpets covering the ground. The walls were a creamy colour.

It wasnt exactly what you would classify as welcoming, the carpet was coming of revealing dark wood planks. The paint was peeling from the walls revealing brick.

We went past door after door each with peeling dark green paint.

My mum stopped in front of the last door on the left. I looked up at her, she smiled a gentle smile making me feel reassured.

She bent down to my height and looked me in the eye.

As I looked at my mums green eyes she smiled.

"good luck"

I nodded and opended the door.
