Secrets

Chapter 1

Narrator's POV

A high pitched howling filled the night sky. Raven threw her head underneath one of the couch pillows. She wondered if she'd ever find some piece and quiet to read.

OWWWWWOOOOOWWWWWOOO

Raven jumped up out of her seat on the sofa, infuriated. She walked angrily over to the door leading outside and banged on it.

"Beastboy will you be quiet?" She yelled.

A series of sniffles followed by Beastboy's small voice. "Sorry, Rae."

The purple haired girl immediately felt bad. She knew he was still trying to get over Terra, the girl who betrayed them after stealing Beastboy's heart. She reached her hand out and cracked open the door. Snow fluttered down onto the cold city.

Raven opened the door enough for her to slip out. Beastboy was sitting on the front steps. He didn't seem to care that his clothes and hair were both covered in snow. The shapeshifter broke the silence.

"What do you want?" His breath billowed out in front of him.

Raven cleared her throat and spoke in her usual monotone voice.

"I wanted to say sorry," she began. "I know you're having a tough time. I didn't mean to yell." Raven looked down at him.

Beastboy had his back to her. He didn't want her to see his tear-soaked face. "It's fine." Was all he managed to choke out. For a second he wondered why the demon girl was being nice to him, considering she usually gave him the cold shoulder. A large gust of wind blew vigorously.

"We should get inside." Raven said.

"You can go ahead." Beastboy sighed.

"I meant you too. It's pretty cold out here." The girl took a few steps and placed her hand on Beastboy's shoulder. "You're going to catch a cold."

Beastboy wiped his face and turned around. Did she actually care about him? He was so surprised he couldn't even speak. "Raven..."

She reached out her hand to help him up, which he grabbed happily. They walked back into the tower together, all covered in powdery snow.

Raven walked toward the couch and picked up her book. She sat back down and opened up to her bookmark.
