After hearing Alec's story, I don't care what people say anymore. They can bully me as much as they like. It'll hurt, but I won't care. I've changed the way I've looked at the world. It's a dark place, but no matter how bad it is, there is always someone who cares about you, and even if you don't want to, you should care about yourself, for the sake of that person. That person is Alec, he cares about me and I won't let him down. I feel a hand on my shoulder,
"Yo Jasmine."
It's Alec, My stomach does a flip and i feel funny again, but I smile anyway.
"Yo Alec."
"What ya up to?"
"Thinking."
"At the end of school? What about?"
"Yes at the end of school and stuff."
Alec looks at me and pulls a face,
"Stuff?"
"Girl stuff"
Alec's cheeks start to turn red.
"What?"
"Yep, girl stuff. You know like-"
"No!! Stop!!!"
Alec screams covering his ears.
"I'm too yoouunnnggggg!!"
I giggle,
"You're 16 Alec."
"That's too young!"
I roll my eyes, he can be so childish at times.
"Whatever,"
I say
"c'mon, there's a place I want to go."
Alec and I walked down to the mall after school.
"So, what is it you wanted?"
"A crepe."
I answered plainly.
"What!? We walked for 20 minutes to buy something we could've bought within 5 minutes!?"
"I like these crepes more."
"They're the same!"
"The other place smells like burnt toast."
"So!?"
"It's gross, now shut up and pick one."
After ages of trying to decide, we both decided on a crepe. When Alec put his money down to pay for them I quickly snatched it off the desk and placed down my money to pay for both.
"Hey! I saw that!"
I ignore him and start eating.
"Don't ignore me!!"
I look up at him,
"Your welcome."
I say, and continue eating, struggling not to smile. Alec sighs and shakes his head.
"Fine."
He says as he starts eating. I look up at him and smile, he looks a little ticked off, it's kinda cute.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't Barfmine and Alec. Enjoying a little date are we?"
I turn my head to look at the source of the voice. Florence Nickleson, the biggest jerk in school.
"Barfmine? Really? Wow you must be really low on material."
I snap my head around to face Alec, who's casually eating his crepe. A growl-like sound travels from Florence's mouth, but then it turns into a snicker.
I feel a pair of arms wrap around my shoulders, and to my horror, those arms belonged to Florence. He smiles evilly at Alec, who's glaring murderously at him.
"What's wrong Alec? You look pissed."
I look at Alec, Florence isn't lying, he does look pretty mad.
"Leave her alone."
Alec growls. Like he actually growled!
"Naww! Are you jealous?"
Florence moves his head closer to mine and whispers in my ear. I turn bright red in the face.
"I-I-I, u-um, I-I'm r-r-really, u-um -"
Suddenly a crepe flies across the table and slaps Florence in the face.
I turn to see Alec standing up, glowering at Florence.
"What did you say?"
Alec spoke through gritted teeth. Florence starts laughing, as he clears his face.
"Wow. Jealous much? I bet you haven't even told Jasmine though have you?"
"Shut up."
"Oh wow, you haven't have you?!"
"Stop talking."
"That's rich Alec. I bet Jasmine wants to know."
"Don't."
"Hey Jasmine,"
I turn to face Florence.
"Did you know that Alec-"
Suddenly I saw a body, fly unbelievably fast and aggressively towards Florence. I knew who it was, and I knew what would happen.
There was a loud crash as Florence hit the garbage bins. I would've thought Florence would cry, or scream or something, but instead he started laughing.
"Do it Alec I dare you!"
He laughed. Alec raised his fist above Florence, without thinking I threw myself around Alec, in a hug like form. Everyone was watching.
"Alec don't!"
I scream.
"He's not worth it!"
Alec lowers his fist and begins to calms himself down. He grabs my wrist and drags me away. He didn't say anything, but he dragged me out of the mall and down the street. He let me go.
"What did he say?"
"Nothing about you, if that's what you're asking."
"I'm sorry Jasmine."
"It's ok. Thankyou for defending me."
Alec looked up and smiled at me. My stomach did a flip, I think I should got to a doctor.
Together Alec walked me home apologising the entire time.
"I'm so sorry."
"Stop being sorry, I said it's fine."
I'm proud of myself, and I'm ready, whatever tomorrow brings, I'll take it on.
