I woke up to what seemed like distant voices, murmuring in a blurred mess around me. my head was KILLING me!. Along with everything else in my body. I tried sitting up but the room started spinning so I let out a small moan of pain and laid back down.Apparently it wasn't small enough because i suddenly felt eyes on me. 'Great' I thought, the last thing i need is attention. Then I heard a familiar voice, the one that was on the phone while I was driving.
"She's awake" the voice said. Then I heard footsteps walking towards my bed. The voice spoke, this time much closer. "Are you ok?" he asked. "Yes" I whispered, "and, thank you" I said. "For what?" he asked. "For warning me about the bomb and for taking me here, where ever this is". "Oh good you remember the bomb, do you remember anything else?" "No, I only remember the warning, the explosion and being thrown into the air and then everything going black".
"Ok well, does this ring any bells", he showed me a piece of paper with the words 'Missing Person' on it with my picture and everything came flooding back into my mind. "Ok, so thats why I was running from my parents, if I can even call them that anymore". "Yeah, pretty much" said the boy who, though I've been speaking to him for the past two minutes, I still don't know the name of. I decided to find out. "Whats your name and who are you?".
"My name is Eli and I have been assigned to protect you until your real parents are located, which could take a while so we will be hanging out a lot", he said. "Well, hi Eli, I'm At- "Athena I know", he said continuing my sentence. I stared at him with my mouth hanging open. "What?, did you really think I wouldn't at least ask for the name of the person I was meant to be spending the next few weeks, months even, with?".
My cheeks turned a light pink and he chuckled, a low but cheerful sound. "Would you like me to show you to your room?", asked Eli. I nodded my head, still to embarrassed to talk. I felt like an idiot. Of course he knows my name. He is meant to be protecting me after all. Eli held out his hand, stealing me from my thoughts. I took his hand and he helped me out of the small bed and to my feet. He put a hand on my arm to steady me and I felt a zap, like electricity. I pushed down the bubbly feeling in my stomach and nodded my head, telling him it was okay to start walking.
We started walking down a long hall with about twenty doors on each side. I looked up to see what the ceiling looked like, but that was a bad idea. The quick movement sent a sharp pain to my head and my vision started blurring, for the second time today. I could feel myself loosing consciousness, so I decided to alert my company. "Eli" I called out, moments before my eyes closed and fell to the ground. My last thought before I was completely gone was 'what happened'
