Reader POV
Did I love kirito? My mind felt overwhelmed with emotions. How? Did he feel the same way? No... He wouldn't be interested in me! I shook my head to get rid of these crazy thoughts. We walked down the crowded street together, my mind running everywhere. I didn't notice Kiritos small glances at me. Pretty quickly, we reached a field of flowers in the colours of blue, red and green. It looked like a sea of jewels, shining in the light. For a few moments, all my worries melted away as I stared at this beautiful landscape. It looked like it was out of a dream...
"Whoa! This is just..." I was speechless. Kirito laughed at the look on my face as he took my hand in his. I gasped in alarm. What was happening? This was new.
"Relax!" Kirito said, sensing my alarm. "I'm just making sure you don't trip over, there's so many concealed rock under these flowers it's unreal!" He laughed and lead me forwards. I let him drag me along and we ran through the flowers, wind making my hair fly out around me. Soon enough, we reached a patch of grass clear of flowers and sat down. We could just relax and look at the gorgeous scene. Even though we were trapped in this game where death meant death in real life, I felt like I could still enjoy it. We may not be able to log out, but we still could lead a life here as we to fight through the floors. I led back on the grass, bathing in the sun. The weather was like this the day I meg Kirito. I closed my eyes and let myself drift into a sleep...
Kiritos POV
She had fallen asleep. The sun shone off her hair, her face looked so peaceful. She really was beautiful. I gently picked up a stand of her hair and started twirling it around my fingers, plaiting it and untangling it. I still didn't understand why I felt that surgeon anger when she was in fear of Rosalia, why I took her hand into mine. I wasn't thinking clearly at those moments, my heart had taken over. Could it be possible that? No... Even if I did, she wouldn't feel the same way... Just as the thoughts occurred, u/n murmured in her sleep.
"Kirito..." she said. My name! I gasped in surprise. She... What could she be dreaming about? Her hand reached out as she stirred slightly and grasped my sleeve. Even though she probably didn't mean to, it made my heart beat faster. She yawned and opened her shining eyes and looked straight up at me.
Readers POV
The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was Kiritos face, which was for some reason red. My hand was gripped onto his sleeve; I must of done that in my sleep! I apologised and quickly made to let go but he caught my hand in his.
"Wait. I need to tell you something," Kirito said in a gentle voice, almost a whisper. I glanced up at him and gasped. Could he mean... No?
"U/N... I- I, " Kirito stuttered, completely out of character for him to be nervous as he's always confident. Suddenly, he looked up, and set his piecing gaze upon me. "I love you." I felt the blood rush to my cheeks, unable to draw my eyes away. Was this still a dream? No, his hand holding mine was too warm to not be real. I gave him my answer.
I love you too Kirito," I said. As soon as I said these words, a smile broken upon his face and he pulled me towards him withe the hand he was holding. I fell forwards straight into his embrace. I live the feeling of his warm hug, relaxing me and helping me forget my worries.
"Thank you for saying that," Kirito whispered into my hair. He loosened his grip on me slightly and allowed me to move backwards slightly. His soft hand caressed my cheek and brushed my hair out of my face. I closed my eyes, pressing my cheek into his palm. Next thing I knew, his lips were gently pressed against mine in a caring kiss. When he pulled away, I could see that his cheeks were red; he was obviously embarrassed. I smiled back at him.
At dusk
Me and Kirito we strolling hand in hand back through the town when Kirito suddenly stopped. When I looked at him curiously, n he gave me an explanation.
"I'm going to take you on an official date to a restaurant. The one we went to the first day we met. I'm paying." After announcing this, Kirito led me down a road, not caring if I had any objections.
We arrived at the restaurant within 5 minutes and we sat down at a table for two. We both ordered the stew and tucked in. I decided that I would catch some meat for his weekend and cook a stew for Kirito back at home as a test for him. I smiled to myslef as I savoured each bite, bursting with flavour. Once we finished our meals, Kirito refused to let me pay half and we walked home.
Just outside of the house, Kirito stopped and glanced up to the sky at all the constellations. A smile became clear on his face ad he squeezed my hand. Turning to me, he told me he had a present for me.
"I got Lisbeth to make it for me," He said as he handed me the small package that he had received from the blacksmith earlier. My eyes widened as I opened it to find a delicate solve chain with a single small onyx dangling off the end. I looked at the stats of it and found it boosted my speed and strength by 20%! That was a lot, could mean the difference between life and death in a battle. I equipped the necklace immediately and threw my arms around Kiritos neck.
"Thank you!" I said, tears welling in my eyes. I felt special. I felt loved. Kirito laughed returned my hug.
