"I said 'leave,' but all I want is you to stand outside my window throwing pebbles screaming 'I'm in love with you'. Wait there in the pouring rain, come back for more. And don't you leave, cause I know all I need is on the other side of the door..."
-Taylor-
I hear knocking on the door.
I hug my knees to my chest and will myself not to get up and open the door to reveal him. He's still knocking. "Taylor, can you please open the door?" He asks through the door. "No. Go away," I say, hugging my knees tighter to my chest. I hear him sigh and hear him slide down the door, sitting on the floor. He starts strumming the guitar again.
I quickly move away from the door and open up my suitcase. I take out my song book and listen to the tune Louis is playing. I've never heard it before, so I'm guessing he is just randomly playing it.
I pull out the pencil and open up to a fresh page. As soon as my pencil touches the paper I feel lyrics popping into my head.
'All the little talks we have, in person or the phone. I'm wondering if you ever know how I really feel. I got you in my mind all night, wondering if it's real. Even though I know you don't feel the same way.'
Does he feel the same way? He invited me to dance with him and was leaning in also.
No. Stop it Taylor.
You can't do this. He just got out of a relationship that you ruined and he doesn't need you to ruin his life anymore. Coming here was a mistake. I should've known. I should leave right now.
I close my songbook and notice Louis has stopped strumming the guitar. I quickly pack away my songbook and start packing my clothes away in my suitcase. I slip on my shoes and take a look at myself in the mirror. I will buy a plane ticket once I get to the airport. Or I'll just go stay at a hotel until I can buy a plane ticket. All I know is that I need to leave.
I take a deep breath and pick up my suitcase handle, dragging it to the door. I knock softly to let him know I'm opening it and I hear him shuffling on the other side. I know he's standing by now.
I slowly open the door and see Louis standing there, holding his guitar, frantically wiping his eyes. His eyes light up but then they flicker to the suitcase and his smile drops. "Where are you going?" He asks softly.
"I need to go, Lou. I was supposed to be helping you get over a relationship but-" I took a deep breath. Should I tell him about my feelings towards him? I'm planning on never seeing him again...I guess he deserves to know. "But I've just been conflicted in my newfound feelings towards you that I've caused a big mess and haven't been helping you. I need to leave," I finish off and bear myself to look into his eyes one last time. "Y-you have feelings for me?" He stutters out in disbelief. I nod, turning my head so he can't see my ashamed face. "I need to leave," I say, willing the tears not to fall yet, and walk past him down the hall. I don't hear footsteps behind me and I let out a sigh of relief. I need to just get away from all of this so I can discard my feelings toward Louis.
I open the front door and walk down the steps of his apartment. I'm walking down the pathways towards the gate when I hear footsteps banging down then stairs.
"Taylor, wait!" I hear him call out and I slowly turn around.
-Louis-
I sit against her door and strum my guitar. I don't even know what I'm playing. It's just random chords. It would make a nice song, if I was not so focused on Taylor at the moment I might've written something to go with these chords.
I hear soft knocking on the door and quickly stand up. I wipe my eyes that I didn't know were tearing up until just now. I see the door open and frantically wipe my eyes, to cover up the unshed tears. I see her and my eyes light up, but then I glance behind her to see she is pulling her suitcase.
