Sherlock's POV (Before he came to Axel's house)

"Sherlock Holmes?" One of the policeman asked as I sauntered into the crime scene. Someone had already been here earlier, I'm guessing a female by the size and type of the footprints. I frowned thoughtfully. Usually I didn't mind when some other detectives had been through the scene but this girl, whoever she was, had solved the case before me.

"Why was I called here if you've already solved the case?" I glared at the guy forcing him to answer me truthfully with my eyes.

"I-I... Well... A girl came in earlier, I think her name was Alex? Axel? Something like that anyway. And um... She had a look around but she left pretty soon after that, saying something about how Amelia didn't need to go easy on her and that it was quite obvious that the cleaner had murdered him". He shifted nervously under my harsh gaze. Hm... This girl was interesting, the police didn't seem to realise that it was in fact the cleaner who murdered the 'victim' but she did.

"And who is Amelia?" He blinked.

"I thought she was the one who sent you here, she is the Head Inspector after all." I turned to the door.

"You should listen to her." I stated simply.

"Wait-What.. Who?" The man stuttered, shocked by my sudden change of subject.

I pulled open the door, "Axel" And walked out.

My eyes flitted across the deep red door. I had spent the last half and hour finding out about 'Axel Woods' and her friend 'Amelia Greenwood'. Turns out Axel is a free lance detective and Amelia is a police friend of Greg's. Interesting. I studied the door for a bit trying to find out some more about her. Coming up blank, I pressed my ear up against the door and quietened my breathing so I could listen. Soft, slow breathing whispered down to the door but no other sound could be heard. I lifted my head back accidentally banged on the door. Wincing I realised I had some how pushed the door bell when I hit my head.

"Come in, I think it's unlocked!" The girls voice called out sluggishly. I turned the door handle and walked inside, purposefully making my footsteps loud so I wouldn't startle her.

"Axel Woods?" I asked as I turned through the doorway. A girl lay stretched out on a couch.

She nodded slowly, "And you are?" I felt a smirk creep onto my face.

"Sherlock Holmes."

A silence hung over us for a second. "Am I meant to be impressed?" She tilted her head slightly.

"You should be." I countered while my smirk grew. We stared at each other for a second, reading each other. Free lance detective, had a partner but... They died a while ago? She worked more with the police now but I think she wanted a new partner? The police were a bit slow. But there was something else about her, something I couldn't quite place. She was- She was- Our eyes met.

Just like me.

I stared at her in shock. I mean sure I'd met Moriaty, the consulting criminal and the Taxi Driver, but none of them had been so much like me. None of them could take a glance at a case and already have it at least half solved. For some reason, my eyes couldn't leave her face, it was so weird but wonderful at the same time. For the first time in my life I couldn't think of anything to say or do. Eventually someone knocked at the door making us both jump.

"Come in!" She shouted, not removing her eyes from my face.

"Hello again." Her voice was sure and confident.

"Hi." I answered simply. We went silent for a second and then burst out into laughter. Greg and a red head woman stood in the doorway awkwardly. I realised it didn't look professional so I sat up and flattened my shirt confidently. Greg's friend burst out into a shocked laughter. "They were right." She said. Glancing over at Axel, I tried to figure out what was happening but as soon as I looked up I realised I didn't need to. Axel had been doing exactly what I had been doing. Greg suddenly joined in laughing with his friend.

"Detective Inspector Lestrade." Axel announced suddenly, removing her eyes of Greg for a second to glance at me. I nodded, impressed that she knew his name and his job. I looked over at the red head. Policewoman, I'm guessing some kind of detective or an inspector because she is Greg's friend. Going with inspector, I continued my list in my head. Broke up with her boyfriend recently because he was cheating on her. I frowned slightly. Then I remembered, She was-

"Head Inspector Amelia Greenwood." Letting out a silent chuckle at the two inspectors faces I thought, Shouldn't they be used to this by now?
