[Your pov]

"Jellal, you can come back with us! We earned our freedom!" Erza says to Jellal. He seems different, almost as if it is no longer him. Jellal smirks at Erza.
"There is no freedom in this world, Erza. Can't you two see that?" His eyes look feral and without meaning.
"Jellal," I say softly, "come back with us, please." His face softens as his attention turns towards me.
"Y/n~chan, you could rule beside me. All you have to do is stay." My eyes fill with tears. This can't be him.
"Jellal, you know I can't!" his expression looks hurt, then it turns to a look of anger.
"Fine, you two take your freedom, but if either of you come back, there will be some consequences," he says, then leans in close to my ear. "First, I will kill Shô." My eyes widen, now more eager to leave than ever, but the old Jellal is still within this new version of him.
"We will leave," Erza says, deciding for both of us. Jellal sighs, as if he knew what we would say. We start to walk off the island when he shouts to me.
"You will eventually be by my side, Y/n. I will do whatever it takes!" Whatever it takes.

[Years later]

"Shô, what are you doing!? Take Erza out of the card!" I yell frantically at him. I am so busy panicking, I don't notice Simon coming up behind me.
"Now now, Y/n, why would I do that?" Shô replies.
"Because, Erza is like a sister to both of us!" I cry out. Shô sighs guiltily.
"Jellal said great things about you, I am so sorry you get the more uncomfortable ride back. You were the easiest to apprehend manually."
"Wha-?" was all I could get out before I felt a sharp pain on my head. The last thing I see is Simon picking me up to travel, back to him.

At first, all I see is darkness. When my eyes finally adjust, I see the cell bars. Then, I hear a clang of metal, and then a male scream. "Erza!" I shout out, trying to attract the attention of my friend. "I know you're there!"
"Y/n!" she exclaims, then quickly unlocks my cell with her stolen guard keys. "We need to find Natsu and the others. They would never abandon us," Erza commands.
"Erza, you go find them, I will look for Jellal," I say. Erza gives my a look, then seems to shrug it off.
"Okay, Y/n. Whatever you say. It will be faster anyway." As she runs off, I start to wander.
Suddenly, a voice booms in my head, "Hello, Fairy Tail. I hear you are trying to destroy the Tower of Heaven? Before you may do so, you must defeat the members of Trinity Raven. Good luck." That voice is unforgettable. That voice brings so much love and hatred. It is Jellal's. As if to confirm Jellal's statement, a member of Trinity Raven walks past.
"Hello, Ms. Y/n!  Good day to you," the leader, Ikaruga, says walking past. I stare at her, waiting for her to turn and attack, or for her to use some complicated spell that will cut off my oxygen supply.  I watch her until she leaves the corridor, but she never turns an inch. When I'm sure she has left, I turn and walk up the stairs to the top of the R-System.

"Ah, Y/n. You finally came," Jellal says as I step onto the top of the tower. Erza is lying on the floor, unconscious, and Natsu is making a feeble attempt at standing up. I rush over to Natsu, pulling him up and putting his arm over my shoulder. "Just going to ignore me, eh? Well, then, have it your way."
"Look at me," Jellal says in my head so loud that it makes me drop Natsu. I go to pick him up, but then I freeze. "Look at me," he says in my head again. I turn and look him directly in the eyes. Mind control? No such thing.
"Ha, I know what you're thinking. This is mind control. By practicing water magic, I control the nerves and muscles in your body."
"I-," I start to say, but I hear a grunt behind me. Natsu stands, looking at Jellal with a feral expression. Their fight starts again, clashing throughout the tower. Suddenly, Natsu had Jellal by the throat, ready to get in the final blow.
"You baka, Jellal!" A voice shouts from the dark, making Natsu pause. Out of the shadows steps a woman with long, dark purple hair and red eyes. "How can one like you mess up so many of my plans?" she hisses. "Fairy Tail must go." A dark purple orb started to form in her hands and then grew.
"Grimoire Law!"
Then the orb bursts. Before the last light fades from my eyes, I cast the strongest defense spell I could muster on Erza. "Bring the old Jellal back, Erza," I whisper, then I fall to the ground.

[Jellal's pov]

I snarl and glare at the spot Ultear was, but she was already gone. She's dead, and I couldn't save her. My love, Y/n, is dead. All I can see is red, as I stumble towards the resurrection lacrima, and Erza. I know Y/n cast a defense spell on her; she was a defense mage, anyways. Though the bind snake had dissolved, Erza still took some damage from Ultear's spell, keeping her unconscious. Soon, the lacrima is absorbing her as a sacrifice again. This will have to work.

I sit by Y/n as she stirs, then I lean over, brushing some hair out of her face. "W-what happened?" she stutters.
"Y/n dear, how much do you remember?" She looks at me in confusion, then at her surroundings.
"Who are you?" This is exactly the answer I was hoping for. I grin at her.
"My name is Jellal, my sweet. You are my love." I see something flicker over her face, and her eyes grow huge.
"T-that Jellal?! You are him?" I jerk back. She wasn't supposed to remember any of the horrible things I did, or anything at all. I feel even more shocked when she says the following: "I thought you had died when you went to save Erza! Oh, Jellal, I love you!" She starts to cry on my shoulder, and I hug her. The promise I said to Y/n a long time ago comes into my mind.
"You will stay by my side, Y/n. I will do whatever it takes."
