Is This the End?

How it all Began...

All I remember is fire, destruction, panic and fear as we all saw ships coming down and destroying our Earth. I remember it was a Saturday and we went up to the lake house. My parents went to the store to get some groceries and Tyler and I stayed at the lake to swim. We saw these huge ships coming down.

"Brooke?" Tyler asked.

"I see them! What the hell are they?" I say quickly getting out of the lake.

Tyler gets out and we quickly dry off. We start to see huge flashes of light in the distance and fires starting in the forest near our lake house.

Tyler and I look at each other and he yells, "What the fuck?!"

"We have to get to mom and dad!" I reply starting to freak out I run to my brother's truck and he follows. I get in the driver's seat and reach to start the car thank god Tyler was holding them out to me when I realized no keys were there. I start the car and drive towards the store, seeing everything around us in flames Tyler gives me a look.

"What?" I ask.

" Th-the Hendrickson's house is on fire!" He yells pointing out the window.

"Tyler we have to focus on finding mom and dad. I'm sure they made it out."

As we drive there is fire and destroyed homes and buildings. We pull up to what once was a grocery store and it's completely destroyed in shambles. I look at Tyler and get out of the truck.

"Mom?! Dad!?"

I run to where all the ash and wreckage is and see burned corpses all over the place. Looking at each I look for my parents. Tyler gets out and helps me search. He gasps and starts to cry. I go over to where he stood and recognize the necklace my mom was wearing. She always wore it since dad gave it to her. It had a heart with an infinity symbol next to it. Her body was burnt and my dad was next to her. I break down crying next to my brother for what seemed like an eternity we cried together.

Another flash of light I saw which snapped me out of my trance. The ship a few miles from us looked like it was landing and I knew these creatures or people weren't good.

"Tyler we need to move now!"

I grabbed him by his arm and taking one last glance at our parents we ran. We left the truck behind and everything we knew.

I didn't know then what I know now: the outsider's planet was unsustainable for them to live on, so they wanted to kill off the humans so they could inhabit Earth as their new home. Remembering that day is probably the hardest thing for me to do. I lost both my parents that day, my best friend, my grandparents, everyone I loved except for my brother.

Looking into the fire we created tears spill out as I remember it and was only a few months ago. Tyler puts his arm around me knowing what I'm thinking of. Since that day we ransacked the houses that were intact still and were able to find some food, a canteen, blankets, a small tent, and a shot gun. We haven't found any other people in these few months. We now call the aliens outsiders. While we ransacked a house off the side of the road we came close to one. It was a big creature with 4 arms, 2 legs and had 4 eyes. It was slimy and green looking and carried a gun. There was a bullet in the man's head who owned the house so we know the outsider shot him.
