To Be Careful.

After finishing our work in our fifty minute class, Mr. Cress hands out our homework for the night. I'm usually on top of my game when it comes to doing homework, so I decide to work on a little bit in the spare time that we had until next hour.
I look over at my right to see Death contemplating on what the homework may be asking. Does he not understand it? Like I've said before, I want to try to get closer to this guy. Find out an actual name. Not some bogus name I gave him based on his interests.

"Are you having a bit of trouble with the homework? I could help you if you wanted." I say politely, smiling a little so he'd see that it's a warm, friendly gesture.
"I think I can manage, but thank you." He replies back. His voice sends another chill down my spine. His voice, the tone and depth in it. Why doesn't he speak more often? Or maybe I'm just unaware of when he does.

The bell rings and I jolt out of my seat along with my things. I catch up to a friend who was walking a little bit ahead of me.
"Hey, what were you doing sitting with the mute kid?" My friend Perry asked. She's sixteen, though she looks eighteen.
"He's not mute, I had a small conversation with him. Twice." I responded trying to sound like I did something great that others only dreamed of. All I did was talk to him, why would I need to emphasize that into something greater than it is?
"Just be careful. He doesn't seem all that screwed in in the head Lay." Perry looked at me with concern.
The kid isn't going to kill me for speaking to him, he has manners for crying out loud.

I leave Perry and go to my locker to grab my books for the next subject. With three minutes I rush to the second floor and speed walk down the long hallway into a large classroom. My biology teacher Mrs. Dim greets every student that walks in. I'm the third one in. I don't have this class with Death or Perry, but I head over to my table to see my friend Brandon. Brandon is fifteen as well, and bisexual. Very eccentric as well. Class starts and I find myself drifting away from the lesson to replay the events that have just taken place. How do I make this guy open up? It should come to me soon. I'll have a plan. Right?
