The next few years were great, Pam was like a big sister to me, I felt that I had a proper family again with her, Stan, Steph, and Jay they all took me under their wing and brought me up able to fend for myself in this home.

Until one night when I was twelve, I was doing homework with Pam in my room when we smelled something burning, all the fire alarms in this building were old and rarely checked so many of them didn't work. I opened the door to find a massive smoking fire at the end of the corridor, I shouted to Pam and she got up to knock every other door to make sure that everyone was aware and moving, I stayed behind as she warned everyone by this time the fire had grown to a blazing inferno that trapped us in a room and was closing in Pam took off her shoe and broke the window then turned to me and held me tight, the fire now inches away,

"Selina, you have to promise me that no matter what, you will take care of yourself"

"Pamela, I promise, but what about yo-"

She picked me up and launched me out of the broken window, I caught a tree and turned back to the window just in time to see the fire explode out of the window

"Pam-" I screamed them my hand slipped and I crashed onto the floor into a blubbering mess the others caught up to me and asked where Pam was, I looked up to the window which only made me cry more, then they realised what had happened Stephanie started to cry, Stan held his sister close and Jason put his hands over his face and walked away in frustration and grief.

I must have passed out on the floor that night because when I woke I was in a hospital bed on a drip with a cast around my right arm and burns and scratches all over my face and charred black hair.
