Beyond the door, there was a luxurious resort. Right in front of us, there was a tennis courtyard. There were two girls, both brunettes playing tennis there. couple of spectators stood to watch the game.
"Come with me, Ms. Mendes." Mr. Lachowski told me. I followed him, mesmerized by the beautiful sight in front of me.
"I didn't know we had a resort behind our school, to which our school has a door."
"It's not behind our school, it's not even in New York." Mr. Lachowski said, as I followed him through the door. He pushed past all the kids at the tennis court. The kids faltered as they saw Mr. Lachowski. They all eyed me.
I awkwardly followed him. I didn't know where I was. I looked around to look if the door was still there, but it wasn't.
Now, in front of me there was an automatic door.
I felt a slight jerk against my left leg, I slightly stumbled. I looked down to see what had caused it.
A small child, around the age of three years stood next to my leg, as he looked up to me with his dark brown eyes. He had chubby, rosy cheeks. Or maybe it had turned red because he was embarrassed
"Sorry." The boy told me, in his cute voice. He had a hint of British accent to his speech.
"It's okay." I told him as I flashed him a huge smile. "What's your name?"
He smiled at me as I ruffled his jet black hair. "Jaden. You're pretty."
"Thanks." I told him, still smiling. Since last night this was the best thing that had happened to me.
The room looked like a normal room. I don't know what I was expecting. There were two single beds. In between them, there was some space to walk. Behind the beds, there were two small wooden study tables. Both of the beds looked identical, with a white pillow, white bedsheets and a white satin sheet. On one of the wooden study, sat a guy, eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he read a book. He looked East Asian. Jet black hair, beautiful almond shaped eyes and prominent cheekbones. I instantly looked away, to avoid further fangirling.
"Young, I've told you so many times, don't do that. Why would you waste your energy? Just come and open the door with your hands." Mr. Lachowski chided. He didn't take his eyes of his book.
"Well, I get to decided what I do with my energy." He said, as he kept his leg on the table, still not taking his eyes of the book. He didn't particularly have an accent, but there was a hint of British, the way he said 'I'.
I was a bit surprised. Why wasn't he bowing or showing an sign of respect to Mr. Lachowski? After all, he was a big deal here.
I could see that Mr. Lachowski was trying to hold his anger in.
"Young, are there any berths left?" Mr. Lachowski asked. Berths? Why would he just ask him that?
The brunette raised his head and looked at me. "No, I don't think so. The last one was occupied by that 16 year old girl."
He looked back at his book.
"Well, then. You'll have to share the room with her." Mr. Lachowski said. I looked at him incredulously.
Young looked at Mr Lachowski. He got up from his chair and walked towards us, as I got ready to run. This guy didn't have any expression in his face. But he did look dangerous.
"Young, please understand the situation. She needs to stay here. She's important." Mr. Lachowski said.
"Um-" I started, but when they both glared at me, I faltered.
"I told you I don't want anybody else in this room." Young pressed. What fascinated me the most about him was that even though he was angry, he showed no sign of anger or any other emotion on his face.
"Please Young. I apologize. But please understand." Mr. Lachowski said.
"I'm sure she's one of those intruders. You can just punish her. Put her in that jail place or whatever you call it."
Now I'm officially wary. Firstly, I didn't want to come here, I was forcefully brought here. And now if they were going to punish me, I was definitely going to go crazy.
"She isn't an intruder. I brought her here." Mr. Lachwoski said. When Young didn't say anything, he said, "Let her stay here. Please show her around too."
He walked out of the room without saying another word. The awkwardness settled in.
"I'm Adriana." I told him, to break the silence. I sat down on one of the beds, the window was on the other side, so I assumed that must've been his bed. "What's your name?" That question was totally unnecessary, but I didn't know what else to say. I was so confused.
He advanced towards me. I sat back on the bed.
"Listen, girl." He started. At this point, I could even smell his scent. He smelled like men's cologne. I didn't notice any other smell. "Don't talk to me. Don't touch my things. And, your sitting on my bed."
I quickly got up from the bed and moved to the other one. He glared at me once more and walked into another room, I think it was the washroom.
I laid down on the bed and stared up at the ceiling. What was going on? Was this why Diane had hugged me? Where am I? Should I try to escape?
A knock the door interrupted my deep thoughts.
I walked over and unlocked the door. I guess the door locks itself.
"Adri." Vicky said. She looked around nervously. What was she doing here?
"What are you doing here?" I asked her as I rushed her into the room.
"I followed you through the door. I wanted to know where he was taking you. I heard what they were saying, if they catch me, they'll punish me. Ugh, the kind of things I had to do to get to your room ." Vicky said nervously. I was nervous too. I didn't know what punishment she would get.
I heard the lock of the washroom door click open. Oh no. I forgot that Young was in the washroom. Vicky and I looked at each other, as I gulped.
I saw Young, standing outside the washroom door, hands folded over his chest.
"You've got a lot to explain."
