I reluctantly drag myself toward the allocated detention room. An hour of doing absolutely nothing is such a waste of time. I peek through the window of the door to see that the last person I wanted to see was already sitting there. Harry. I really can't be dealing with this at the moment. My mind will just ponder over to him if I'm not occupied enough. I sigh as I try to silently open the door.

"Ah Ava, you're here." Mr Johnson glares at me from above his glasses.

I just nod and go to the back of the room in hopes I will just keep to myself.

I look over at Harry and he is somewhat rolling his eyes. What a jerk.

I decide to do some homework to pass the time. It's better than having unwanted thoughts about someone who just acts weird around me. He is so confusing yet so attractive. His brown curls cover his face as his head is turned down to stare at his lap, every now and again his deep green eyes looking up to check the time on the clock. His big hands drumming the desk to pass time. He licks his lips to moisten them also taking his lower lip in between his teeth to help him think. I am snapped out of my trance as there is a knock at the door.

I look up to see who it is, anything, anything interesting instead of being stuck in this stuffy room. I slip back down into my chair as I realise that it's just a teacher.

"Excuse me Mr Johnson, please may I have a word?" she smiles sweetly with a bunch of papers in her arm.

"Sure." He smiles back as he scrapes his chair against the hard floor. "You two will be left alone for a minute or two,"

"Great..." I hear harry mumble. The absolute cheek.

"So don't move, I mean it." He wags his finger at us before exiting the room with the woman.

Harry lets out a huge sigh as he runs his fingers through his hair.

"I didn't really have you down for the detention type, doesn't really seem like your kind of thing," He pauses as a smirk grows across his face.

"but I bet I know what is." He says as he moves slowly towards my desk.

I decide to just ignore him and carry on doing my homework in hopes that he will either just leave me alone or that Mr Johnson will come in.

"Don't give me the silent treatment now... I thought you would of enjoyed that little thing we shared on my couch, I know I did." He smirks as he sees my obvious annoyance. He steps an inch or two closer until I can feel him breathing on me.

Now it's my turn to scrape the chair against the floor this time to get out of Harry's way. I take a step backwards to find that I can't as his large hand is holding the small of my back.

"You're so fucking irresistible when you're annoyed." He says through gritted teeth. I blush in the heat of the moment, his breath landing on my neck. He inhales heavily through his nose as he moves his head closer to me. I close my eyes. Just before our lips meet the door slams open.

"STYLES! What are you doing out of your seat?" Mr Johnson practically growls.

"Just helping Ava with her homework." He smirks as he looks over his shoulder stalking back to his original desk.

.

"Right, well, you are dismissed early, I have an emergency I need to attend." He says as he stuffs his papers and his laptop into his brief case. He runs off looking at his wrist watch as he goes.

Harry and I walk into the pinching air silently. I can't catch the bus now, it's far too late, I'll just have to walk, great. I shake my head at the thought of the 30 minute walk.

"D'Ya want a lift." I hear Harry's low voice grumble, probably embarrassed by the fact he's even offered, this act of kindness seems very rare coming from him. There must be a catch, take me to his house so he can sleep with me. Yet another night to boast about to his friends.

"I'm fine thanks." I raise my eyebrows with a sarcastic smile.

"I won't ask again." he sighs tapping his foot impatiently on the concrete.

"I won't say again, I'm fine." I walk off at a quick pace not being able to stop my thoughts about harry, what could of happened in detention, what could of happened if I got in the car.

I arrive home quicker than expected. I get changed, making myself a mug of coffee in the process. This is all I need on this cold day.

I receive a text not long after my encounter with the cold. I open it up expecting it to be Ally or my mum.

You should of got in the car, it was freezing.

How the hell did he get my number?! I shouldn't even be on speaking terms with him.

How did you get my number?

It only takes a minute or two for my phone to beep again.

I have my ways.

We spend the night texting each other, talking about our families, what it's like to be in completely different crowds, I even asked him why he's so shady and sleeps around to which he replied that it takes away the stress and the unwanted thoughts. It must be pretty tough for him. He's actually pretty decent. I like him. There's actually an explanation to his behaviour however it still doesn't seem to excuse it.

"Hi sweetie," my mum pokes her head through the door, I greet her with a smile, "remember we're going to Andrea's on Saturday, movie night, so we'll probably stay quite late. your dad and Bruce are going to a sports event all night, is that okay?" she asks rubbing my back comfortingly.

"Yeah that's fine." I smile trying not to look too eager as I warm up to the idea. Harry is probably going to be out anyway but I don't really mind.

I run up to Cal's friends in true desperation, "Have you seen Cal anywhere?" I ask practically out of breath. One of them shrugs, the others mess about and start shoving each other laughing. Can't they see that this is an emergency? I'm really starting to worry now. Im getting scared. I start to head back home. It's getting to dark to search for him, it's dangerous at this time of night.

I shut the door and go upstairs. I drum my fingers on my working desk waiting for that relieving call from Cal saying that he was okay in reply to the multiple voice messages I left on his switched off phone.

There is a knock at the door as my heart skips a beat or too. This must be him. I can't wait to pull him into my arms, say that I forgive him, that it doesn't matter anymore and everything is okay. I gallop down the stairs opening the door with a huge grin spread across my face. It soon fades as I realise that it's a police officer at the door.

"I'm sorry Miss Bryce, so very sorry." The police officer says somewhat gravely as his eyes trail down his arm to his hand. My eyes follow his as I scream in horror. There in the police officers arm is a bloodied person with the exact same features of Cal. I know what he looks like like the back of my hand even I he is covered in blood. I start to feel light head and woozy. His head is practically hanging off of his shoulders. Blood starts to suddenly spurt out of every inch of Cal's body, the police officer frozen, not one feature moving, everything in the street is frozen apart from the blood now gushing out of Cal.

"I'm so sorry." Is all I can hear in Cal's familiar voice. Echoes of the same phrase invading my thoughts. I try to cover my ears, my eyes, nothing seems to work.

"NOOOOOO!" I scream as tears stream down my eyes, "NOOOOOOO!!"
