Hey guys thanks for reading. For some odd reason Wattpad isn't showing the rest of chapter 5 when you read it, so this is the remaining bit you would have missed in chapter 5. Thanks for reading and remember to leave a like!!
"Ms. Eleanor Demure. You stand here accused for the defilation of our race, and for the domestic dispute that unfolded this very morning, which resulted in the death of a vampire."
"What? I'm on trial for murder?! that doesn't make any sense, he almost killed me!"
The audience began to whisper among themselves.
"Of course which leads me to say, in despite of these events, our Majesty of the court have come to rule a pardon for this crime was in mere self defence, and the death was of our sworn enemy the Mors."
A man in the audience rose
"This is news to us! your saying there was a Mors within our lands, and we the people are last to know?"
The audience began to become enraged, the orator slammed his fist onto the podium, creating a loud bang. Startled I jumped and almost fell backwards.
"Silence!"
The crowd silenced almost immediately.
In our efforts we the court have to believe that the Mors infiltration in our land was a misunderstanding on their part, and that the threat of the matter no longer stands, now may we get back to the matter at hand."
I caught my breath
The advisers are ready to hear your plead Ms. Demure, good luck."
He gave me a sarcastic smile, then turned to claim a seat that was just bellow where the elders sat. For a moment I stood in silence, looking about the room. My mind was empty. I had no words, no strategic moves that was going to help me in my defence. I was helpless. I looked over to the far left, in which I hadn't looked before, however to the side were two nooses that hung over the wooden gallows, swaying in mockery. My heart began to race, and I could feel the tears well up within my eyes. I looked over to Ronin for guidance but there was no use. He was lipping something to me but I couldn't make it out. Suddenly my mind filled with words, and my head gained knowledge. Out of nowhere I made my defence.
"I confess. I plead guilty to the charges that had been laid out onto me, of being unfit to posses such a rare and ancient gift. I've come here today to prove worthy to be called one of your own, however I see no need in doing so."
The audience gasped with surprise
"I am not a fighter, for I want fight in your wars, or protect your people. I am not a doctor so I cant tend to the wounded, or be of use to you in everyday needs. Nor am I a politician and nor do I take any interest in being one, so no I will not be a member of your courts either. However due to my lack of any actual skill or aptitude for any of the probabilities of being of use to you, I am capable of being but one in particular, your eyes and ears."
The silence loomed over the room like a storm. The crowd anxiously waiting for me to continue my defence, on the brink of curiosity.
"We are vampire's our senses are not dull Ms. Demure. You defence is weak towards our standards and we feel that we will not see to this any longer."
"Exactly. As vampire's I have surprisingly noticed a significant increase in senses and my capabilities as when I was human, but you are blind, deaf to what goes on within the human race."
"What is your point my dear?"
"I am an outcast, as a vampire and as a human. a runaway, a nobody. Maybe the people have a right to fear that The Mors that has been killed on our land was only a warning or a threat, that war is to come upon us all. Allowing me to live, I could collect intel on any and all events that pose important to the court and the safety of our people. I may not understand the formality of being a vampire but..."
Suddenly my voice was ripped out of my throat. Pain welled up in my hand. It felt as if I was being burned, or branded. I grabbed hold of my wrist, screaming in pain. The audience and the advisers stood quickly with wonder. I fell to the ground. The pain was unbearable. My screams filled the room, and everything seemed to darken.
"Eleanor!"
Ronin leaped out of his chair and raced towards me. He grabbed hold of my shoulder. His grip was electrifying which sent sparks through my veins, intensifying the pain. I shoved him off me, but by doing so sent him hurling into the marble walls across the room. Andrea screamed, as the crowd began to worry. The pain was so intense and enraging, I began to punch the ground, desperately trying to subside the burning. A man shouted from the crowd,
"Look at her wrists! she's been marked!"
Ronin looked up at me, fear in his eyes. The room fell silent and the pain dissipated. For a moment I sat there collecting myself, holding my hand. I looked down to asses the damage, there was three dots in the shape of a triangle, and in the center was the letter "A" branded into my skin. The elders approached me,
"She's been chosen! by Alvah, she's the vampires mistress.."
