"Katniss... Katniss" A soothing voice slowly said, drawing out the "s" in my name. A blurry vision of about five people stood over then me and I groaned in pain, rubbing my head where I could feel a bruise forming. Suddenly my vision cleared and I sat up straight, gasping for breath.
"Shhh, your ok, nothings wrong." I heard Gale say and forced me to lay back down.
"What happened?" I asked, not remembering much at all.
"I'm not exactly sure. You had walked upstairs and started yelling at Haymitch and when you walked out, you tripped or something and landed on your head."
"No.. I was going downstairs to talk to.. the President, about doing the games every year. I had to stop him!" I exclaimed, suddenly remembering the heartbreaking conversation with Gale earlier that day.
"Who told you that?" Gale stared openmouthed and tightened up.
"You did! When we went on that walk earlier!" I gasped in suprise. How could he have forgotten?
"I think you dreamed that part! I never said that..." He was genuinely worried now, I could tell by the look in his eyes. I thought about it hard and realized with sudden relief he was right, that part didn't actually happen.
I sat up and put my hand up to stop the few hands that reached up to stop me. My feet swung over the side of the white hospital bed and I jumped down to the floor.
"I'm ok, really. Just a major headache, trust me I've had worse."
I pulled my pair of shoes and walked out of the hospital, heading for the elevator. I reached out to push the up button when I heard a familiar voice behind me, making my heart stop. I spun around to face the blonde haired boy whom I once loved.
"Yes?" I questioned at him saying my name.
"I just wanted to make sure you were alright. I heard about your fall." I sighed internally, only half relieved.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I nodded and avoided eye contact. I couldn't tell which part of me wanted to get away.. the part that was terrified of the monster of a man in front of me.. or the part that still loved him. The thought made me sick and I knew I needed to get out if there. "Look Peeta, I have to go."
"Of course, goodbye Katniss." He smiled that warm smile that makes your heart melt and I blushed, turning away so he couldn't see. By this time the elevator doors had opened and I stepped inside, pretending to be preoccupied with finding the right button until the doors closed. But as sooon as they shut my back made its way down the wall until I hit the floor and then wept, for a long time.

"Up, up, up! It's time to get started!" I wenr around to each of the tributes, shaking them awake. Carter was the last one I had and when I went in there I was expecting her to still be sleeping, enjoying her last few moments of rest before she was thrown into the games and then real rest didn't exist. Instead I heard the sound of water crashing against the shower floor and the faint sound of singing. I was about to turn around when my feet stopped dead cold and I couldn't sworn I stopped breathing. It felt like eternity but in reality it was only a few seconds before I spun around and ran to the door, and threw it open, resulting in a terrified scream from Carter. I stood breathless in the doorway and reached my hand out to the white marble sink in order to steady myself.
"Katniss?!" She asked unsteadliy and I nodded, pickinf up a towel and opening the glass shower door to hand to her.
"Dry off. We need to talk." I demanded and started to back away.
"But..." She began and I spun around.
"Just do it!" I yelled at her and walked out, slamming the door shut.
