It had been three months. Paul and Beth managed to help teach me to talk. Not like a grown man would, but enough so people could understand what I wanted.
"Liam." Paul yelled for me.
"Ye- ye- yes?"Like I said, I can talk, just a little though.
"Hershel has a vaccine for ya! He's been working on it for a while. He thinks it might be the one!" Paul looked at me from the porch of the farmhouse and I quickly hobbled my way up to him. I walk into the house and Hershel tells me to sit on the couch in the living room.
Today was one of the first days that they allowed me to leave the barn. Hershel was having me walk the perimeter and try and focus on my memories of before and try to keep my focus on being alive. Human alive. Not zombie alive.
"Alright here." Hershel sits across from me on the coffee table and leans forward, needle in hand. He slowly sticks the needle in my arm and injects the medicine. "You might get a little woozy." Hershel pulls the needle out of my arm and stands, walking back over to his supplies and throwing the needle away.
"Her-" I started to say his name but my eyes slowly closed and next thing in knew, I was out cold.

I awoke to the sound of a heartbeat, my heartbeat. I can hear my hearbeat! It's actually loud enough for me to hear!
I open my eyes and take in my surroundings. My chest starts to tighten and my head starts to hurt when I hear a voice from beside me.
"Try breathing." I take a deep breath and my tension releases.
"Who a-are you?" I stutter and realize that I actually can talk better. I can comprehend so many things. I have an imagination again. "Wait. I understand what's going on! I can remember my past! I'm not dead any more!" I sit up off the bed and do a little dance.
"That's great. Now slow down though. Your body is still digesting the medicine and you might still break your bones easily." The same guy says.
"You still haven't answered my question though, who are you?"
He reaches his hand out for me to shake, "Call me Dr. Jenner."
I shake his hand and he walks over to the dresser in the farthest corner of the room. "So what kinda doctor are you?"
"I work for the CDC. Center for Disease Control. When this whole thing started everyone kinda left and I was the last one and when your friend Paul drove out to the CDC the other day an told me about Hershel's vaccine I had to come." Jenner turns around with a needle in his hand. "I'm going to give you another shot so your body can keep building up the stuff it needs." He sticks the needle in my arm and injects the fluid.
I watch as a small dot of vivid red blood drops from the small hole. I have real blood in me now!
Jenner puts a small bandage on my arm and instructs me to lie down because the medicine will make me sleep again.
So about five minutes later I was out like a light.
