I really thought i made the right decision. Everything i did was to fix something that i didn't even know. To fix something that wasn't even my fault, at least that's what i knew then. How foolish. But, i just brought back the nightmare. I convinced myself.
I am not a killer.

The room felt so empty even though there are people in it. 2 people are there. They don't talk. They don't say a word. A white desk separates the two of them. Both of them are sitting in a chair silently. The air around them feels thick. It's so quiet. Too quiet. No one said a word since they both stepped into the room. It's been only about a few minutes but it feels like an hour already. Time flies slower and everything feels frozen. And after another few seconds of silent, someone speaks a word.
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
"..."
The other keeps shut. But a nod can be seen.
"By forcing something from your brain, it would risk a lot of things. Your mental health, your way of thinking.."
No sign of refusal is seen from the patient.
"We don't often get this request a lot. More people tend to ask for us to erase rather than to bring back"
Still silence.
"You are the first actually to ask such thing"
The whole room fills with the same quiet atmosphere once more. The air thickens even more and no one eager to change it. They sit in silence like a stranger. Which, they are. They are a pair of strangers, sitting alone in a cold room. A pair of strangers. They haven't met before. They don't know each other.
"This was a traumatic experience, isn't it?" One says without looking up from their device.
A nod.
There is a long silence for a while.
"It'll be like forcing the guts out of a carcass"
One looks up a bit, but their bangs cover their eyes from the patient's view.
"It ain't pretty"
The tone feels raw. It seems familiar.
"You've requested a modification of a machine that plays with mind"
The patient don't seem to give any sign of emotion.
"And you're going to be the first experimentation. Do you understand how dangerous this is?"
No response.
One takes a deep breath. The device in front of them shows the percentage of failure to this experimentation. And let's just say that it's not looking as good as they want it to look.
"Let's just start the process"
The device gives an alarming sound as a line of text displays on the screen. He presses the left button and the whole room shuts off.
And between the darkness that's surrounding them, a pair of eyes cuts its way into the patient's soul, staring them down. A whisper can be heard in the middle of the eerie silence of the room.
"And if it's succeeded, I'll never let you do the opposite and forget about your sin"
