Just because we're cousins, doesn't mean we aren't best friends. I don't care what you have to say about it. A best friend is someone you can be yourself around. Who you can tell them anything and you know they won't tell or judge. Who laugh when you laugh, who cry when you cry, who smiles when you smile, who brings you up when you're down, who has your back no matter what. The list goes on and on. I count that as a best friend.

***SOMETIME IN NOVEMBER OF 2007***
Finally! We are here. All of my mom's side of the family go to my Aunt Heidi and Uncle Shawn's farm for Thansgiving.
I jump down from inside the truck and run over to Colby, Rachel, and Krissy. We all instantly run off toward the lake behind the house. The lake has gotten shallower from last year. Mud and cow manure cover a big part of the grass that we usually walk on.
"My mom said not to go through that cuz you'll get stuck." Krissy says as we walk toward the mud mixture
We all shrug and run back to the house.
"What did I tell you about running off?!" Mom asks me as I come through the back door
"Sorry." I shrug it off and walk outside the front door
"Dad, where's my boots?" I ask walking along the side of the pathway leading from the front door to the driveway
Dad throws my boots to the side and I run over to them. All the kids have to wear rubber boots when they are out on the farm cuz our parents don't want our shoes to get muddy. Dad throws me a pair of socks and I change into my socks and boots. I hand Dad my flip flops and run off again with Rachel, Krissy, and Colby.
Us four were like a little group. I am the oldest, so kinda the leader. I don't like Rachel and Krissy though. I usually run off with Colby when they aren't around.
"Let's play hide and seek." I say once we get to the trampoline
I look over at Colby trying to get him to understand what I'm trying to get at.
"I will be it." Colby says caughting on
Rachel, Krissy, and I run off while Colby counts.
Krissy runs behind the house while Rachel runs over the cattle bars. I run and "hide" behind a tree.
"READY OR NOT!!! HERE I COME!!!" Colby yells
Colby comes running over to me. We both walk away from the tree and into this fence area where horses used to be.

"I'm bored." I say as we walk
"Me too. Let's go back."
"Okay."
We start walking back but stop when we hear people yelling.
"COLBY!!! JANNIE!!!" Meghan, my sister, yells with her hands cupped around her mouth
"Over here." I whisper to Colby pulling him down and over to the long grass
We bend down hiding from them. Meghan and Kayley climb through the barb wire fence followed by Krissy and Rachel.
"Great." Colby whispers
After about 5 minutes of hiding, they are out of sight and we go back to the trampoline.
"They are gonna be mad. Like you know, that we ditched them. Let's go to Ma-Maw's house so we won't get in trouble." I say jumping off the trampoline
Colby follows as we walk up to Ma-Maws house. We knock a little then walk in.
"Hey Ma-Maw!" I say as I walk into the kitchen
Me and Colby sit down at the table as Ma-Maw walks in.
"Hey Colby and Jannie. Where's Krissy and Rachel?" Ma-Maw asks getting the cinnomon buns from the counter
"Oh. I don't know. They just kinda ditched us." Colby says
"Oh. Well take some for them too." She hands me and Colby two cinnomon buns. One for each of us.
"Thanks Ma-Maw." I say as I walk out
As we walk down the three little steps Rachel and Krissy come running up.
"Where were yall?!" Rachel asks
"Oh. Colby found me so I was helping him find you guys. Then we got bored cuz we couldn't find you guys and went to Ma-Maws house." I say handing Krissy a cinnomon bun
"Oh." Krissy says opening the wrapper
We all walk back to the trampoline and eat our cinnomon buns.
"Where we're you guys hiding?" I ask Rachel and Krissy
"Over there beind Omma's house. In plain sight really." Rachel says
"Over there on top of that hill." Krissy points to the famous hill
"Well of course we wouldn't be able to find you there!" Colby says
"After a while I came out and saw Rachel walking inside the house. We told Kayley and Meghan we couldn't find you guys and we went looking for you guys." Krissy says
"Then they ditched us like jerks." Rachel says
Once she said that I felt bad. Cuz we ditched them like jerks too.

The rest of the trip kinda went that way. Me and Colby ditching Krissy and Rachel. Sometimes though, Rachel would join us to ditch Krissy. And sometimes, Krissy would join us to ditch Rachel. And sometimes.....I would join them, to ditch Colby. Colby sometimes joined them to ditch me. We were all ditching jerks. It's just how it happened.
