Today is the day. January 16. 116. Uno uno seis. The angel number. The annual Big Rap contest. Almost everyone in my small town, Scrillaville, AZ, and people from all around the country come to this contest each year. What makes this such a big contest is well, for one thing, the town's name. "Scrilla" is a rap term that means money. Secondly, four of the most famous rappers in the WORLD were born here and now live here. Horatio Herbert, Shaun Davey, Woody Erle, and Hardy Carter. They're the contest judges each year, as well as my favorite rappers. Also, whoever wins gets a grand prize of half a million dollars. And everyone is looked over by talent scouts. Now you see why it's so important? Good. Every person in Scrillaville was basically born to rap.
Now the contest, it's broken down into three rounds, since there's fourteen contestants this year, well, fifteen if you count the rap duo, The Bab Bros. Each round consists of match-ups. Rapper to Rapper. Each do a song, and then the judges score each. Whoever gets the lowest score gets kicked out, and with the people that are left, the person with the lowest score out of them gets kicked out also. It's survival of the best, basically. In the first round, you have to pick your own song, that you made up. In the second round, the judges pick a song that everybody has to sing separately. In the last round, it's like the first round. Except in the last round the person who gets the best score wins. It's that simple. Each judge can also score out of ten, so forty points in all. What makes this one even MORE special is that it's the 10th annual one. Ten Years of Rap is what they're calling it. Here's a list of this year's contestants, along with their rapper names:
