When Katelyn was little, she spent all her time at the park. Her park, located behind the lush forest towards the back of her school. Nobody's ever went there. Barely anyone knew about it. It was called "Little Park" She had named it all by herself. Katelyn had her own special swing. Her own special slide. Her own special monkey bars. Her's. She went to her little park everyday after school, for almost three years. Her parents were always working from early morning to late evening, so they never knew she went to her park. They just thought she stayed home. Katelyn didn't have many friends at school, and she was considered "the weird girl who never talked to anyone." But she didn't care. She was still young, and didn't notice the whispers. Katelyn liked to be alone in her park. She liked how quiet it was. Katelyn didn't need friends, she didn't need anyone. All she needed was her Little Park, the warm, worn down mulch that squished down beneath her feet. The large ever green trees the kept Little Park hidden. It was all hers.

-

"Watch where you're going, shorty!" A girl scowled at Katelyn, who'd bumped into her. Katelyn rolled her eyes and took off towards the back off the school. The grass crunched beneath her feet, pine leaves brushing against her face, as she neared her Little Park. Walking towards it, she stopped. She drew in a quick breath. No one ever came to this park. She thought no one knew about it. It was her's. And yet, white haired, green eyed, boy was at her park. On her slide. The boy slide down, before running over to the swings and sitting down on one. Her swing. A leaf crunched underneath Katelyn's sneaker as she shifted. Noticing the sound, the boy looked up, smiling, and waved. He clung to the swing with one hand. The other waving. Katelyn cautiously walked to where the boy was. The boy had a large smile on his face. "What are you doing here?" Katelyn asked carefully.

"Playing." The boy answered simply. Katelyn glared. This was her Little Park. Her's!

"Well stop!" She declared. The boy looked at her.

"Why?" He asked. Katelyn was angry. What did this strange boy think he was doing here? This was her park! Didn't he know if the other parks? How did he find her Little Park?

"Because you're at my park! Mine!" Katelyn shouted. The boy smiled.

"There's another swing you know. And lots of other stuff to play on. Katelyn felt like she wanted to cry. But she didn't know why. It was just some stupid boy who was on her playground! Her park!

"I don't want that swing! Or the other stuff! I want my swing!" She stomped her foot in frustration.

"Ok, I'll do on the other swing then!" The boy hopped off and got onto the swing next to her swing. Katelyn slide her backpack off her shoulders and let it land on the mulch. She triumphantly got on her swing.

"I'm Travis." The boy spoke, beginning to swing.

"Oh." Katelyn replied. She didn't want to start a conversation. She wanted this boy to leave so she could have her park all to herself.

"Well? What's your name?" Travis asked curiously.

"Katelyn." She answered, not bothering to look at the boy. They swung in silence. All that was heard was the creaking of the swings, and birds chipping far off. Katelyn almost forgot the boy was there until he spoke up again.

"I should go now." Travis dragged his heels in the mulch making his swing slow down. He hopped off and picked up his backpack.

"Bye Katelyn!" Travis waved as he ran off.

"Bye.." She replied, barely audible. She was confused. Why had he been nice to her? She's told him to stop swinging, and was rude. The thoughts continued as she trudged home.

———

15 years passed. The boy had retuned everyday after school. Sometimes they chatted, sometimes they didn't. Katelyn began to grow fond of Travis. Over time, they became best friends. Little Park was where Travis nervously asked her out, and later to be his girlfriend. They shard their first kiss under a blanket of stars while sitting on top off the monkey bars. Now, they were twenty-two and twenty-three.

"Hey Katelyn?" Travis asked her, breaking the silence as they star gazed, laying upon a patch of grass. Wind blew, making the swings swing, giving off a small creak.

"Yeah?" Travis stood up. Confused, Katelyn propped herself up on her elbows. He stuck his hand out, and she grasped it, pulling herself up. Travis rubbed the back off his neck.

"Uhm, well, Katelyn. We've known each other for along time. A-And I really like you! E-Erm, I mean love you! A-And, will you marry me?" His face was beet red, as he stuttered for words. Katelyn was surprised at how sudden it was. No warning. No nothing. Once she regained focus, she passionately allowed her lips to crash upon the boy's own. He was taken back at first, soon returning the kiss great fully. They stood their, surrounded by a galaxy of stars, all twinkling. Finally, they broke the kiss, both with stupid grins on their faces.

"I-Is that a yes?" Travis asked sheepishly. Katelyn smiled, kissing him on the cheek.

"Definitely."

They kissed once more, stars glittering. The moon shown, giving Little Park a romantic glow. But it wasn't her Little Park anymore.

It was their Little Park.
