((Based off the move Dead Poet's Society (1989) - my interpretation of Todd's reaction to Neil's suicide.))
I cannot bear to hear my own name anymore,
For it reminds of how he used to say it.
I cannot bear to be cared for,
Because all the caring I ever needed was from him.
I cannot bear to remain monotonous.
And in his memory I stand hear today,
Before people I never thought I could come to love
In a land I never thought I’d wished to stay in.
Upon the desk I say:
My best friend lost and most forgotten,
A love brought down in flames,
I cannot bear to hear his name,
Because it reminds of how I used to call it.
I cannot bear to care,
For I only cared for him,
He took himself and his own and
I cannot forgive him for this
For his own injustice
So as I weep I speak:
Where have you gone?
And why did you leave without me?
Carpe diem cannot be said for you my friend,
You gave that up when gave up yourself.
You are henceforth and forever more exempt from the Dead Poet’s Society.
