Her eyes fluttered open. She had the all encompassing feeling of immense terror, but she had no idea why. She placed her hand on her chest, to ease her thumping heart...then stopped. She realized, with a new wave of horror, that her heart was not beating at all.

She knew she wasn't dreaming; she felt her hand, like a heavy stone. So, was she in Heaven? She sat up, and looked all around. No; this was definitely not a paradise. It was storming, and she was lying on the edge of a jagged cliff. The thunderous, roaring waves of the ocean were far below her, yet they rolled so viciously that she felt their harsh spray. This might just be hell, she thought.

She stood, trying to organize her thoughts. What did she remember? What did she forget? She somehow knew her name: Arielle. She knew she needed to find someone. Her family, maybe? A lost love? She was also vaguely aware that she was naked, and needed clothing.

She stumbled farther away from the edge of the cliff. She needed answers.
