I felt it. The glass. Some of it hit me, and it burned, but I had to ignore the pain and focus on the main objective. Escape. I heard the multiple gunshots. My ears were begging for mercy, and the sound of reloading made my heart jump.
"Kid! Run!" I heard the man say as he fired some shots from cover. I obeyed, and dashed through the streets, ducking my head. He tried to stop the car from chasing me down, but it didn't help. The sirens blasted my ears.
"Get on the ground!" An angry voice shattered through the air. I ignored it. I heard some gunshots, but none of them hit me. One shot almost hit me in the head, so I stopped really quickly and slipped into an alley way. It was a dead-end...absolutely nothing to save me. The sirens went quiet, but I still saw the lights staring at me, laughing at me.
"I said-GET. ON. THE. GROUND!" A Police Officer bolted down the alley with a gun pointed at me.
What was the best thing to do? Slide under his legs? Maybe-
No.
Slide under his legs...it was worth a shot. I stood up, pretending to be accepting of my fate, and once he was close, I slid under his legs, kicking up dust in the process. He wasn't going to have it, and I felt him drag me backwards, thrashing around crazily. He got me to the ground, and hit me there, too.
"Good to see you again, you hoodlum piece of crap. You're not leaving this time."
