The start of something new

The missing piece

You slide out the car and smooth down your dress.

Josh sends you a smile and you can't help but return it with a shy smile

Taking a deep breathe you walk towards the house that has music poring out of it. Lights are flashing and people are shouting and swaying to the music you can't help but feel slightly nervous.

Your hands are shaking but you tell yourself it's because the wind.

Closing your eyes you count down to calm yourself before going to walk into the house

Then you feel it.

A warm hand slides into yours calming your nerves.

You don't look at josh but a grin slides onto your face before he leads you into the packed house.

Becca discreetly gives you a thumbs up and a wink.

Some people turn and look at you and josh eyeing your linked hands and you expect him to let go instead he just holds tighter making your heart race.

Breathe you remind yourself.

Your internal squealing but you keep it in not wanting to draw more attention.

Josh turns his head to you.

"Let's go get a drink" he says leading you to the kitchen.

Once he's open the fridge he grabs two cans of Fanta and passes one to you.

He pulls his hand from yours to open his can and you open yours but his hand goes straight back to yours.

You chug some of your drink to hydrate your dry throat.

You open your mouth to talk but nothing comes out.

A small laugh escapes josh throat and he places his drink on the counter before taking yours and putting it down as well.

His arm loops around your waist and he walks you into the family room where people are dancing.

Lightly he spins you round to face you and you tilt you neck to look him in the eyes.

His hands rest on your hips and you tightly grip onto his shoulders before you start swaying to the music without breaking eye contact.

Your hearts racing in your chest and your stomach is filled with butterflies but an overwhelming happiness has consumed you and that's okay.

The tips of Josh's ears are pink showings he's also nervous and you cant help but think how cute he looks.

The lights flash around, music is thudding and people are dancing all around you but it feels like it's just you and josh in the moment.

You run you tongue across your lips.

Noticing josh drops his eyes to your lips before his own tongue flicks out to lick his lips.

Your eyes falls shut and josh tightens his grip on your waist before pulling your body closer.

Then his lips are on yours and you feel complete.

You don't really know josh that well but he feels like the missing person in your life and now... now you have him.
