I held the medium-sized gift behind my back as I knocked on Japan's door. Today was his birthday, so I wanted to give him something special, even if he didn't accept it. I know he doesn't enjoy birthdays, but I guess I will have to try.

He answers the door, surprized. "Konichiwa, ____-kun. Not to be rude, but what brings you here?

I answered, remembering that I couldn't keep surprises hidden for long with him. "I came to say happy birthday, Kiku!"

His eyes widened, as if he forgot. I handed him the present, which was a green box, with white ribbons.

He opened it, and then looked at me.

I smiled as he picked up what was inside.

"A cherry blossom tree." He replied, "Thank you very much, ____. You are very kind. He smiled, and placed the tree down on a table. He came back to the door. "You didn't have to-"

He was cut off by a hug. "I didn't want to invite all of the other countries because I know you like the quiet." I said, releasing him before he could push me away. He looked surprised, yet happy. "You are welcome. "

He nodded, and we said our goodbyes.
