Flappy Bird

It was dark and dreary. Sebastian walks onto the damp bus like every other day. He plops into the grey, cold, bus seat. He whips out his fully charged phone, ready to play the most addicting game on the market- Flappy birds. The game would aggravate him beyond belief, but he couldn’t put it down. The bus slows to a stop and lets on the next bunch of kids. His green eyes peer above his seat as he watches Brooke walk gracefully onto the bus. Just her very presence makes Sebastian want to throw up butterflies. His eyes follow her down the aisle as she sweeps past the seats. Suddenly she stops, seeing no more seats in the back open but his. She cringes. Brooke places her bag in between her and Sebastian.

“Hi,” he ruffles his brown curls. She looks straight forward, not making eye contact with him.

“Don’t talk to me,” She says disgusted as she gets out her smooth iPhone and also starts to play flappy bird. He looks back down at his phone until they arrive at school.

He walks into the school as a fight arises between Angus and a scrawny kid, which happens to be his more than trouble friend, Jack. Sebastian runs into the fight and try’s to break it up but quickly leaves after a swift punch to the jaw. The fight soon disperses as Angus was distracted from a cinnamon bun. Sebastian walks to class. Jack wouldn’t step in if he was being beaten to the ground, so he decides it’s not his problem. He walks down the hall, looking at his reflection in the glass. He jumps out of his skin as the announcements screech on, warning the kids to go into lockdown, something about a killer on the loose. He runs into the nearest class room then blacks out from the blow to his face.

Brooke hears the intercom, and rushes into the science lab and sees kids huddled in the corner of the classroom. Not many were scared, she defiantly wasn’t. What is the chance of a killer actually coming to their school? The wooden door creeks shut. She joins her friends in the corner-

“HA!” Katie yells. “New high score!” She shoots her phone into the air as many others groan at her pointless accomplishment.

“Hey guys,” Brooke sighs. “Guess who I had to sit with this morning!”

“Noah, no Ivan, oh wait Robert!” her friends rambles off names.

“NO!” she grunts. “It was Sebastian!” Brooke joins them in the ridiculous app. The girls exchange glances.

“He has been obsessed with you since third grade!” Vicky laughs too dramatically.

“I know! I just want this stupid lockdown to be over, I want to be able to see Zach!” Brooke giggles. She loves dating him especially of getting the attention from others because he’s older. Suddenly they hear a huge bang and the lights cut out. Brooke looks around no one even noticed the power shut off. She walks out into the hall and hears noises coming from the closet. She slowly approaches it and presses her ear against the cold wooden door. She peaks into the crack and gasps, then rushes away, her eyes now stinging- It was Zach!

About twenty minutes later Sebastian wakes up to darkness. He scrambles around in his backpack for his phone. He grabs a hold of it turns on his flashlight. Kids in the class room start to cheer as Zach beat level 70. Sebastian turns off his phone and just stumbles toward the group of electronic lights. Zach snatches his phone from him.

“I bet I can beat your score!” Zach taunts.

“I bet you can, now give it back!” Sebastian’s temper rises. He hates Zach with all his guts. He wishes he could rearrange his face so Brooke realizes what an arrogant idiot he is.
