Brooklyn

I was called up by Eddie, asking for some weird fruit at the super market. But it seems it's not in season. I brought out my phone to my ear, ringing him up.

"Hey mate, I don't think they have that weird fruit ya wanted" I tell him.

"Blue honey suckle is not weird. Trust me." He responds as I hear the kids talking in the background.

"Well I'm sorry, I've never heard them until this day. Like come on why couldn't you just want apples. Or blue berries," I say, hoping he changed his mind. "And plus I don't even think they this blue honey suckle any way."

"Trust me Maria always gets them," He sighs as if he can't live without the damn fruit.

"Okay well-" I pause, and I see her. It's been so long since I have. Her hips catch my attention as she shops the cart. She looks good. "Mate I have to go," I hear Eddie saying things like don't hang up but I did.

I started to walk closer over to where she was. I was about to speak when I see 3 little kids run to her.
"mummy, mummy, pleaseeeee." The kids whine.

"Michael, I said no," She responded. Her voice still sounds the same.

"But John got some and said they were super sour!" He exclaims.

"Yeah but John is very-" the little girl maybe older than Michael, or at least that's what I caught on, starts to say but got cut off by her mum.

"Hannah," She gasps, "No, you should respect your cousin"

"Ok, come on Micheal and Molly," She rolled her eyes, "Let's put the candy back," they all groan and left.

It was my time to come up. I walked closer to her. "Once again the one and only, McCartney"

She turns to see me and smiles at me.
"Hi Brooklyn"

"How have you've been?" I ask stuffing my hands in my pockets.

"I've been good," She says, "How about you?"

I wanted to say 'now that I see you, amazing' but all that came out was, "I've been great!" I look at her hands and see no ring. I was wondering if her and Oliver ? I don't remember his name but then again who cares?

"You married?" She asked.

"Uh, nope." I blew air into my cheeks and pushing it side as if I were some kid. "I'm pretty sure-" I was trying to act as if I didn't see her hands but she cuts me off.

"No. Sam he past away 4 years ago" She says. That's what is name was. Yeah, I was way off.

"I'm sorry," I say sadly. Which is true, I am sorry for his passings.

"Thank you" She says sincerely.

"Well are you dating anyone?" I ask hoping she said no.

"No" my mind goes crazy and thinks of a ways to ask her. Like 'would- "but I've been so busy with the kids it's crazy. Micheal has football practice and music lessons, then Hannah has horse back riding and football as well, and then Molly has ballerina. And the only free day I have is Sunday" She says. My mind now goes completely blank. Cause today is Sunday. Mhmmm. Ah!

"What if I call Eddie and he could take care of the kids?" I ask.

"Brooklyn are you trying to ask me on a date?" She smirks.

"Yes." I said confidently. "Yes I am"

"I'll call jack to see if he can babysit" She says with a smile. I wanted to dance in front of everybody.
