BEST FRIEND

Bryson Adams

I parked my car in to a free parking space next to a blue convertible. It happened to be one of the cheerleader's cars. She was applying red lipstick when she noticed me. Her eyes widened for a fraction before she smiled flirty at me.

I smiled back tightly, just to be polite, and got out of my car. I walked in to school and headed straight to my locker. "Dude," Cole greeted and I turned to bump his fist.

"What's up?" I asked and Cole sighed and rubbed his face.

"I don't know man. I'm feeling kind of confused," He admitted and I finished zipping up my bag.

"About what exactly?" I asked and he looked around for anyone he knew and took a step closer to me.

I stared at him in confusion. "It's about what happened at the party," Cole explained.

My eyebrows slowly knitted together and I adjusted the straps of my backpack. "Dude, a lot happened at that party. Can you be more specific?" I asked him and right then the bell rang.

"I'll tell you in biology," Cole said and he rushed to his class.

I shook my head and walked down the hall to my history class. I sat down on my usual seat but Steven wasn't there. I was happy because that meant I was going to have a quiet first period. There wasn't going to be a conversation about breast sizes or condom flavors and I was thankful. Steven only spoke about two things, girls and football and frankly it gets boring after a while.

But I spoke too soon. The last ten minutes of class he showed up. In strolled Steven, his hair messy and plain black Raybans sunglasses were covering his eyes. He plopped down next to me and sighed loudly. "I hate my parents for making me come to school today," He muttered.

"Steven, why are you late?" Mr. Bredeweg asked and Steven sat up straight.

"I had a doctor's appointment. My mom called to inform the principal," He stated and Mr. Bredeweg nodded.

"Idiot," He muttered under his breath. "My mother isn't even in town," He said and I shook my head.

"So, did you party your eyes out or something?" I asked him and he slumped back in to his seat.

"Dude, me and these two college friends totally hit up some rad parties. There was all sorts of soft drugs their dude and the babes were incredible," He told me, shaking his head as if he didn't even believe how 'incredible' those girls really were.

"Oh yeah?" I replied and he nodded his head quickly.

"I'm not even playing. They had the biggest-" I stopped listening then and a couple of minutes later the bell rang ending Steven's description of a blond chick

"They were really something," He concluded, referring to the 'incredible babes'.

"Cool man," I said dryly.

He lazily grabbed his backpack, not once taking off his sunglasses and walked out of class. "See you at lunch, Adams!" Steven called out and I just merely nodded.

I walked to biology class and I was the first one there. I greeted the insane teacher who complimented my hairline and sat at my usual place. A bunch of other students filled the class and Cole was one of them.

He plopped down on his chair and tapped my shoulder. I turned around and he was going to say something but stopped. His eyes focused on something behind me and I turned just in time to see O'Connell walk in to class. She had a light gray oversized sweatshirt on and some black leggings on. Her pink hair was up in a high messy ponytail. When she caught my eye, she sent a small smile my way. I smiled back and watched her walk to the seat next to me.
