Riley and Maya

"Hey Riley." I said coming through the bay window. I sat down and looked over at Riley sitting next to me. She was sitting up straight, her posture perfect, but unecessary, her hands placed neatly on top of each other on her lap.  I looked over her, she was wearing pajamas now, her bottoms blue with white bunnys on them and a white tank top. Then there was her face, she had the same smile as normal, her teeth showing, but it was still fake, she could have fooled anyone, if it weren't for her eyes. They were puffy and red, she had definitely been crying.

"Hey Farkle." She half heartedly.

"You don't need to pretend your happy around me, it's me, I know how you're feeling." I said and she layed down in my lap and bawled. I stroked her soft hair, until eventually she cried herself to sleep. Knowing she was a beavy sleeper, I moved her head to the side, and I walked into the bathroom. I took my phone out of my pocket, and hit 3.

It rang 3 times before she answered. "Hey Farkle." The sound of her voice was soothing.

"Hey Maya."

"What's up?"

"Can you come to Riley's?"

"Farkle....she hates me right now...." I could hear her sadness and despair.

"On the outside. Can't you see it's not real!" I yelled through the phone, but still kept it quiet so no one heard me, especially Riley. "She is acting all strong and happy because she doesn't want you guys to know you've destroyed her. Everytime she gets home she locks herself in ber room and crys!!"

"What am I supposed to do?"

"Talk to her. Tell her no matter what you think that you will always be by her side. Because I know what truly happened"

"But we can't tell Riley."

"I know, not yet anyways."

"Riley...." Was all she said before I heard running and the click that said she had hung up.

I walked in and Riley had awoken. "Farkle. Where did you go?"

"I was just in the bathroom." I said, closing the door and walking over to bay window and sat next to her.

I was helping her with her homework when there was a knock at the door. Me and Riley looked at each other and I left. I opened the door, and to my surprise it was Mr. Matthews.

"Hey, Mr. Matthews."

"Hey Farkle, look, can you come into the lving room please." I looked at Riley and then back at him and nodded. I knew someone was at the door, and exactly who it was.

I walked into the living room, and I was correct, there was Maya, standing in the middle of the room, like she was out of place, but she's been here a million times.

"Maya...." I said, taking a hesitant step forward.

"You wanted me?" She asked. I gestured for her to come with me.

"Yeah, she doesn't know about this, so give her a second." I said before I opened the door.

"Riley, there is someone here to see you." I said and she wiped her eyes with a wet cloth.

"Come in," I said to Maya. She slowly took the few steps into the room. Riley immediately got up at the sight of her.

"What are you doing here?!?!" Riley yelled.

"Riley...it's okay...she came to apologize." I said, trying to calm her.

"Okay....Fine...Talk." She said sternly.

"Look, I'm sorry for what I said. I should have kept my mouth shut and just helped you through this." Maya said and tears welled in her eyes. "I have my beliefs, but I'm going to keep my mouth shut, because it's been killing me to see you hurting so bad."

Riley stood up and looked at Maya. I thought Riley was gonna start yelling, but instead she ran up and hugged her. I was surprised when she started crying again.

I smiled. So far my plan was going great. Now that I have Maya and Riley friends again, I just need to get Riley to forgive Lucas.
