A sharp ding races through the school and kids bounce up from their chairs. I quickly packed up my stuff and skipped out of class trying not to think about where I was about to go… I shook that thought out of my head and skipped outside into an empty sidewalk leading to a lush green field. I stand there glad that there wasn't a jet black carriage waiting for me. I take a further step out realizing that there was a light sprinkle of rain.

A gentle drip of cold water bounces off my fingertip falling onto the previously wet asphalt. I stood there in the sprinkle of water falling from the sky. I spun around, rain bouncing off my skirt and to the floor. I opened up my arms and ran, "Airplane style" to the empty field of green grass.

I noticed a single dandelion and jumped over to it careful not to harm it. I laid stomach down beside it and drew in a breath filling my cheeks thinking of what I was going to wish for, which wasn't very hard. Thats when a chilling wind flew in sending chills down my spine blowing every last petal off the dandelion. I began to rise and paused when I was sitting at my knees. The clear blue sky was filling itself with enraged dark clouds already thundering. I heard the thumps of horse hooves followed by a creaky carriage coming up the path.

Time to go "home". The properly dressed carriage driver put down the reins and brought his hands up to his mouth shouting "Taline! Lets go, Taline!"

My ride… I sighed, Forgetting the carefree girl that was dancing in the rain. I walked slowly over enjoying every moment that I wasn't on that carriage. After about twenty  more seconds of freedom I step on the carriage my smile completely hidden in the back of my head waiting for a chance to come back again.

I close my eyes as the wind pinches at my face and the sound of horse hooves bounces around in my ears. Who still travels by horse and carriage these days? Other then me. The bare winter trees and thundering in the distance make this seem like a scene pulled straight from a horror movie. Ironic how fast things can go from beautiful to a total nightmare right? I slowly open my eyes to see a weathered  wooden stake in the ground engraved with the words "LEAVE NOW" how welcoming… I sigh knowing I was almost there, to the place I call Home.

I hear a sharp crack from behind me as the carriage begins to lean to the left. The pale man driving the carriage was pulling hard on the reins as I managed out a shriek. The white haired stressed driver seemed to age 200 years in two seconds as his eyes closed and he let go of the reins. I panicked. Well what else was there to do? I gripped on to the other side of the carriage as another sharp crack made its way through my screaming and to my ears. The carriage slowly balanced out and both back wheels were gone.

The driver fainted. The horses are running with immense speed. Theres a turn up ahead. I jumped up unintentionally and grabbed the reins from the fainted, possibly dead driver that I never bothered to learn the name of. I pulled hard on the reins and hoped for a miracle. The horses didn't slow down, but I kept pulling. Thats when everything slowed down around me. I looked at the jet black horses racing along as if their lives depended on it. I looked at the driver, his head bobbling around everywhere. I gave one last pull to the reins. They stopped.

My hands ached. Everything did. I hiked up home as the thunder followed me. My clothes were ripped.  The road was damp with mud. My house finally came into view. IF I had the energy I be racing over there, but a slow limp is better then nothing. I never thought I'd ever be so glad to see this house in my entire life. The little room, the only room on the second floor moved slowly to the side dancing with the wind creaking as if it were about to fall. I skipped the second step up my porch avoiding the huge hole. I brought my arm up to the key hole opening the door.

"Hello?" I whispered into an empty room. there was no reply. I waited there. What else was there to do?

"Mom? Dad? Anyone?" What was there to do? I can't call anyone, being that there wasn't a station for an hour and a half at the least away from here. I did the only logical thing to do. I limped over to my couch laying down covering my face with a pillow and wept, thinking of how pathetic I was, longing go back to school and be that carefree girl again.

After "forever" I picked myself up and sat regularly on the tattered couch. As i wiped some of my dirty blonde hair out of my face I found myself smiling and giggling. I'm going insane. Its been less then an hour and I'm going totally insane. Eventually I found that my giggling had turned into a burst of laughter. After a minute or to I caught myself. I had to be serious. If nobody was going to help me I wasn't going to help myself. I stomped over to my bathroom and bent down to the bottom drawer and yanked it out and got the medical tape wrapping my right arm and both legs.
