Isaac found himself in the strangest of places, alone and deaf. At least he thought he was deaf, he had tried calling out multiple times but couldn't hear himself; his footsteps seemed to be noiseless as he made his way down the street in the rain. The buildings around him didn't block out much of the down poor, as tall as they were. The sidewalks and road were flooded with about two inches of water. There was an alley way just off the street and a white car was parked in front of it; the engine still running, the lights illuminated the street in front of him. He heard the faint calling of his own name echoing off the walls but chose to ignore it, curiosity now tugged stronger on his mind than fear. As he approached the car he saw the driver's side door had been ripped off and thrown down the entrance to the alley. He looked down and saw a black bike, the spoke still spinning and lying carelessly in a puddle. He turned his attention back to the car, the first thing he noticed was the smell of blood and then he saw the remains of the body, torn in pieces. Blood splattered across the car everywhere. Isaac ignored the body in the back seat and instead chose to open the glove box. He looked at the photo as it floated down in front of him after dropping it: It was him and his older brother so many years ago on Christmas. It was dated back to 2001.

"Is that what you want to see?" His mother asked.

Isaac found her standing across the street from him. "Mom... you came back?"

She nodded and he went to her, he even let her hug him like she used to when he was small. "I missed you so much Isaac."

"I missed you too."  Her appearance had brought Isaac much joy. He missed her laughter lines and bright eyes and momness.

She stepped back from the hug and put her hand to her mouth, "Oh, how did you get that black eye Isaac?"

"Lacrosse."

"You play Lacrosse, for Beacon Hills?"

"My son, he plays there too, well he doesn't- Isaac are you okay?"

Isaac found himself standing in his family's funeral home, in broad daylight, talking to the sheriff. Isaac could feel his heart skip a beat.

"I- just where did Mom go?"

Isaac's father looked at him strangely. "She was never here Isaac."

Isaac took a step back and found himself falling into a hole. He landed with a thud. It was dark, glass surronded him. He looked skyward but could see no stars only light from the digger he had fallen from. He felt panicked and trapped, breathing had become harder. He screamed and after enduring the torture of sitting in the hole for a couple of minutes took a deep breath and climbed out. No one else was in the cemetery with him that was clear. He walked away from the digger and found himself at school.

Beacon Hills High stretched out before him picturesque as always, the sign on the front lawn said "Welcome Back"  and Isaac walked straight passed it and continued into the school. In the front hall he saw Stiles and Scott they were talking loudly as usual.

"We're trying out for Lacrosse this year Scott!" Stiles said waving his arms around almost launching his notebook at passerby's.

"It's our freshman year... we're way too small to play."

"Come on Scott all the girls love a lacrosse player."

"Maybe." He said with a smile.

While Isaac was eavesdropping on their conversation they turned around and saw him staring. Isaac turned away embarrassed. Stiles laughed while Scott smiled and he watched as Stiles protested while Scott made his way over to Isaac.

"Hi, I'm Scott and you're...?"

"Eavesdropping. I mean Isaac, I'm Isaac."

"Okay well maybe i'll see you around-"

"Isaac!"

Isaac could hear his father's terrifying howling from his bedroom. He set down his pen and ran hurriedly down the stairs.

"Yes, father?"

"Grab me another beer, now!"

"But there isn't anymore." Isaac said fearfully. Isaac's father stood up quickly and ran at him shoving him up against the wall. "Please father don't."

Isaac's father punched him in the face. "Don't you tell me what to do."

He crumpled to the floor and moaned in pain.

"Come on Isaac, don't be such a little girl!" His older brother teased.

"Stop... stop!" Isaac said between gasps of air and laughter. Isaac thrashed trying to break hold of his brother's grip but found it nearly impossible. Finally he let up a little and Isaac pounced on him pinning him to the ground. "I got you Cam!"

Isaac let Camden out of his hold, Camden grinned knowing he'd let his younger brother pin him. The two were out in the back yard where their father couldn't see.

Isaac didn't care and Camden always pretended he didn't. "Isaac..."

Camden's tone had become serious now. "I'm going to enlist in the army."

"No, you can't leave me here."  Isaac felt his lip quiver.

"Isaac, I've been protecting you for twelve years, almost thirteen. It's time I help protect other people too, not just you."

"I understand."

"Do you Isaac?" His mother looked at him she was crouching down in front of him.

"I do, I won't tell."

"That's my boy."  This time he saw the bruise on her cheek and the tears in her eyes.

His mother was making him promise not to tell his father that she was leaving him. Isaac didn't really understand what that meant at the time.

"I love you, mommy."  He said as the door was closing.
