So I'm going to see if this goes well sorry it's been a while, but let's make like Mario, and here we go.

Salem's POV

Aaron, Zak, and Nick were chatting away as we all walked into Aaron's house. Granite they didn't say anything to me, they still helped me with my bags. Silently I listened into their conversation.

"Dude I can't wait for this lock down, it's going to be sick," Zak said.

"I know right" Nick replied.

"Seriously though how did you get that interview with the former mob member," Aaron asked.

"I got friends in high places dude," Nick joked.

They all chuckled and keep talking.

"So if those are your friends in high places, what are we," Zak asked.

"Friends," Nick joked again.

Aaron made a face and held his chest like a dramatic woman would.

"I for one am hurt," Aaron said.

They chuckled again.

I stand there awkwardly as they continue talking about their latest lockdown. I look around from where I am standing, taking in my new home. His house was elegant, yet plain.

The front door let to the staircase in front of me, the kitchen to my right, and the living room on my left. My thoughts raved on how long I would be living here. Well I'd only be here for three years, so if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be here long.

My thoughts were disrupted when someone cleared their throat. I turned to see all of them staring at me.

"Do you want something to eat," Aaron asked.

I shake my head. I'm not really hungry, I just want to explore, but not when the other two are in the house.

"Here let's go set you up in your room then," Arron said.

He walked toward me taking one of my bags and led me up the stairs. The upper stair level was a bit darker than the downstairs. We went down a hallway and he opened a door. The room was a lot bigger than my room before.

It had a window on the far left wall with dark drapes, a queen size bed with black sheets. There was a dresser across the bed with a mirror, and a closet on the right side of the room.

"I hope you don't mind the color, black is my favorite," Aaron said.

I looked around the room, examining the room.

I turn to Arron, " I like it."

He smiles at me and says thanks.

He goes to leave me be, but stops and tells me something else.

"You know what I do right," he asks.

I shake my head.

"Zak, Nick and I are paranormal investigators. We hunt ghost for our tv show. Well sometimes something follows us home," he explains.

"In case something happens, that top right drawer over there," he pointed to," contains a mini bottle of holy water, a cross, and a bible, just in case something happens."

"Ok," I said.

He smiled and nodded, them left.

I unpacked, but I felt weird. Like something was watching me. I felt unnerved. But I brushed it off. I started to separate my clothes and organize them to the drawers. My shirts I start to hang up in the closet.

Just as I'm about to open the closet, when I hear a loud growl. I turn the nob and the growling gets louder and louder. I poem the door and this huge gust of cold wind pushes me back and for a minute I can't touch the ground.

I scream out, but is instantly silenced and knocked to the ground hitting my head and passing out.

Aaron's POV-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I walk down stairs after getting Salem settled into her room. She didn't say much, but I think she'll warm up. I walk back into my kitchen where Zak and Nick are still talking. The stop whatever they were talking about and looked at me.

"What," I ask.

"Nothing we were just talking about gym, and when to go," Nick said.

"So why did you adopt again," Zak asked, leaning on my island.

"Because I want to raise a kid," I try to explain.

"She's hardly a kid, what is she? 14? 15," Zak asked.

"She's 15," I said.

"Exactly, she only has a few more years here," Zak said.

"So? She'll still be my daughter and I will protect her like a father should, am I right Nick," I ask Nick.

"Yeah, but Zak has a point, she'll be gone soon," Nick said.

"But you are right too, you will be her father," Nick said.

"So what's her name," Zak asked.

"Salem," I said.

"Why is she so quiet," Zak asked.

"Because she doesn't know me yet and she's nervous," I said.

"So what are you going to do when she starts dating," Zak asked.

"Simple, she's not dating till she's 30," I joked.

They all chuckled with me.

"But in all honesty, she's going to date whom she wishes to date. If the guy can make a good impression on me, and proves to me his intentions are all in the right place, then I know she will be ok," I said.

Nick patted me on the back, "Spoken like a true father."

I chuckle and say thanks.

"I can't protect her from everything, but I'm going to try my hardest," I said.

Out of no where a piercing scream rips through the house. We all look at each other for a split second before I rush to Salem's room. I skips steps as I dash to her room. I run to her room and I see Salem there on the floor knocked out.

"Salem, oh god Salem please wake up," I pleaded while I was shaking her.

I hear Zak and Nick behind me.

"Holy hell this room is cold," Nick said.

He's right, but my concern was Salem.

I saw her breathing and tried shaking her. I was so in a panic, I wasn't listening to what Zak and Nick were doing.

Nick eventually pulled me back, and Zak scooped up Salem. I was so upset, I couldn't even protect her on the first day. The first day! I was at a lost.

"It's ok she's still alive," Zak said.

I followed them downstairs, and they put her on the couch.

I pick her up and I put her on my lap, cuddling her. I put my head in her hair, and let tears start sliding down my cheek.

Zak put his hand on my shoulder trying to calm me down.

"Dude this wasn't your fault, she got attacked," Zak said.

"I'm supposed to protect her from attacks," I said.

"No we mean demonically, there was something in her closet the popped out and attacked her when she opened the door," Nick said.

Why would she get attacked? She's not the one that's hunts them.

"She shouldn't have been attacked," I said, still snuggling into her.

"We know, whatever it was, it's gone," Zak said.

"We doused it in holy water, so it doesn't come back," Nick said.

"I'm not letting anything touch her again," I said.
