Thinking back on it Troy wished he had handled the situation with a little more grace.

He screamed and tumbled out of his chair hitting his head on the floor. "Troy are you okay?" his mom called almost immediately.

Troy quickly scrambled to his feet and reached for the door when the strange bird perched itself on his door handle "No! You can't tell anyone about me! If you do it could put you and your family in danger!"

Troy stared at the strange creature perched on his door, his heart was pounding a million miles a minute. Troy heard foot steps and his mother call again "Troy? Are you okay?" his mother called again, sounding more concerned this time.

"Y-Yeah." his voice came out barely a squeak, he cleared his throat "Yeah Mom, I'm fine. Just a... spider. It crawled across my hand. Scared me. I'm okay." he said, partially trying to reassure himself.

"Alright. Just get your homework done." he heard his mothers footsteps recede.

Troy stared at the tiny bird that seemed to let out a sigh of relief "That was a close one. Now, how about we start over? I'm Hakk, the Eagle Kwami." said the little bird.

"What are you?" Troy blurted.

The bird, Hakk, looked a little annoyed "I just told you. I'm a Kwami." Troy just gave her a blank stare, Hakk sighed and flew off the handle and perched herself on the desk this time, folded her wings and tucked her little feet beneath her "I'm a Kwami. Kwami are mystical creatures tied to items called Miraculous. Kwamis give their Miraculous holders the power needed to become super heroes!"

Troy cautiously grabbed his desk chair and pulled it a safe distance away before sitting down. "Like Ladybug? and Chat Noir?"

Hakk nodded "Those would be two examples of Miraculous Holders. But there are so many more! And you've been chosen to hold my Miraculous! The Eagle Miraculous!"

Troy felt like he was going to throw up "No! Nonononono!" he stood and started to pace "I can't be a-a." he lowered his voice to a harsh whisper "a superhero! I'm a mess! I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached to my neck and I would've been late to my own birth if my mother had let me!" he started to bite his nail, a bad habit of his.

"Of course you can! You were chosen for a reason!" the little bird stood "You need to have a little more faith in yourself! Come on! Let's try transforming! All you have to say is 'Wings Up!' and you'll transform into a superhero!"

"No!" he took off the bracelet and threw it on the floor "I can't do this!" he looked at his desk, but Hakk was gone. Troy sighed heavily and picked the bracelet up off the floor and set it on his desk then flopped ungracefully onto his bed. "I can't be a superhero." he muttered under his breath.

The next morning Troy woke up earlier than normal, partially because he had fallen asleep relatively early after his experience with the Eagle Kwami the night before. He took a shower and gathered his unfinished school work. He stared at the bracelet for a long while before picking it up and putting it in the front pocket of his back pack.

His mother was actually rather surprised to see him up so early. Troy told her that he had gone to bed early for once and made himself his usual breakfast and putzed around the house for a little while before heading his way to school.

Troy spent the whole day thinking about everything that had happened the night before. Could he do it? Could he be a hero? Or was Hakk lying to him so that he'd continue to wear the bracelet?

By lunch Troy's brain was completely fried. He was tired, he wanted to go home, he wanted to turn on YouTube and vegetate. Troy rested his head on the desk and stared out into the distance, letting his mind go completely blank.
