Serena opened her eyes after a moment and she found out something was wrong. She was lying on some kind of bed, with a very bright light. She heard someone opened a door and walked to her

"Oh, you're awake. Glad to see that." A woman with a white coat said. Serena soon felt strange. She remembered she hit the ground in her memory. But she didn't feel any pain or anything.

"I'm the nurse who will take care of you two. You're lucky. That boy must had saved your life." The nurse said. Serena soon quite confused. That boy? She thought in her mind. Usually the nurse would call her a boy as she still in Ash's body. She tilted her head a bit and saw a familiar figure on the other bed. It was a boy, with raven hair, lying unconsciously.

"Ash?" Serena got up and walked to him, or his body. She stared at him a bit, then used her hand to touch her head. She felt a short hair on her head, and she also saw she was wearing a pink skirt, with a ribbon tied on her collar. She looked at the mirror and saw something. She was in her own body. No scratches, no scars, no injuries. She covered her mouth and asked herself if this was a dream

"Uh, miss? I'm still here" The nurse said and she turned her back. She then looked at Ash.

"Is he going to be alright?" She asked

"He had overcome the danger" - The nurse said and Serena sighed in relief, but that's not all - "However, he bumped his head so hard in a rock that he will be in coma. We don't know when will he recover"

That line just like a dagger stabbed in Serena's heart. She started to shed a tear, but she held it back. Ash had sacrificed to make her alive from the fall. If anything happens to Ash, she will be so regretful

"There isn't anything you can do?" Serena asked in shaky voice

"For now, there's nothing we can do. You can leave the hospital if you want to" the nurse said. Serena then sat on Ash's bed, beside him

"Thanks, but I think I'll stay here longer" Serena said sadly and the nurse nodded. She then turned on the TV and saw a news she wanted to see.

'Calem Xavier, 15 years old, is arrested for attempting murder. The investigation will keep going' That was what the news said. "Now that's something we want to see, right Ash?" Serena held Ash's hand, which seemed so weak. She let out a sad smile.

"Ash, I know you can't hear me. But I will stay with you no matter what" Serena said, but no response from Ash. She thought about all the time Ash tried to protect her from Calem. She looked at his arm, which had a big bruise from protecting her. Her eyes started shedding tears

"Ash, I'm sorry for dragging you in these situations. I can't do anything for you..." Serena said in shaky voice and held his hand tighter.

Day after day, she still visited Ash. She came to the hospital just to see his face, to sit next to him and share anything happen in school. One day, she took out her golden necklace, with half of a circle on it

"Ash, remember this? We separated this circle to mark our friendship, remember?" Serena showed the necklace in front of Ash's sleeping face. She sighed in sadness and left the room. From the day Ash saved her. Serena didn't talk to her mom. She just locked herself in her room.

Serena saw her diary on the table. Just like usual, she started to write something in the diary. Suddenly, something fell of the diary and she picked it up. It was the last page of the diary that got ripped off. She knew Ash was the one who took it out to read. She wasn't mad at him, she just blushed about the fact that Ash had known she loved him. But the thing made she start crying was when she saw a line on the page

"I know, Serena. Keep following your dream. -AK-" That was what the line said. She knew who wrote it when she saw the signature "AK". It was Ash. He left this message, just like all the text messages he had written to her.

She couldn't do anything but burried her face in the desk and sobbed. Ash did cared about her. That was why he kept protecting her, even some of them was because of his own trouble.

3 weeks had passed. Ash hadn't woken up from the coma as the school year ended. Serena will be moving in the next 2 days. She was at the hospital, looked at Ash one last time. She tried to keep her tears in her eyes but she couldn't. She burried her face in Ash's chest and sobbed

"Ash... please wake up... You've been in this state for 3 weeks... please, just open your eyes one more time to see me before I leave... don't leave me like this, Ash... I... I love you..." Serena said to him, but as usual, there wasn't any response. She sobbed even louder. Before she left in tears, she did the unthinkable. She leaned in his face and gave him a kiss. She would never be kissed back, but she was fine with it. At least that counted as Ash took her first kiss. She was about to turn the doorknob until she heard a male voice from her back

"Serena?"

She turned around and saw Ash, who was sitting up with a confused look. Serena couldn't control her feeling. She embraced him and gave him a tight hug, sobbed in his chest. Ash was flinched but he returned it. After that, they both stared in each other's eyes, while Ash wiped away her tears rolling on her cheeks

"So we're back to our body, right?" Ash asked and Serena nodded. She knew this was a right time to confess, before she left the town

"Ash, there's something I want to say" Serena said but Ash put his finger on her lips

"I know, Serena. I also have this feeling for you since we were besties. Yes, I love you too" Ash smiled at her. She started pouring out her tears of joy. They hugged one more time before they leaned in and kissed, this time was more passionately. But Serena pulled out and bowed her head

"But I guess this is our goodbye. I will start moving to other city" She said in tears, but she felt someone lifted her head

"Then I'm sure we will meet again, someday" Ash smiled at her and she smiled back. Then they was about to kiss one more time before they heard someone said behind

"So, our lovey couple ready to leave the hospital now? This is not a hotel, you two" The doctor said from behind made both of them blush. They both left the hospital happily after.

However, the happy day soon faded away. Serena's mom said she had to move as soon as possible, so Ash couldn't know Serena had left. Sure he was sad about it, but he tried to keep smiling and wish the best for her, for her upcoming Rhyhorn racing career.
