Chapter 12

Jonathan's pov
Mate looked at me with a soft smile. We were in my car I was taking her on our first date. I wanted her to forget about everything and just be her happy little sarcastic self. When I glanced back at mate she was still staring. "Athena what are you looking at?"
Athena snapped out of her daze shaking her head then looking forward mumbling a quick "nothing".
'Mate was checking us out.'
I smiled at the heat that now traveled up her tan cheeks. I couldn't resist as my arm reached over and stroked her nose. "You can stare I'm your mate after all, all of this is yours." She giggled and once again I wondered how someone could be so darn cute. "Your mine" she looked over her lip quivering. "Your not leaving us. You accepted us. Promised to protect us. It it makes us so happy. We found our other half." My eyes probably were beaming mate liked us mate was satisfied with us trusted us. Mate was adorable. I looked over again seeing mate squeeze the bear we got her and deeply inhale. "Are you smelling the bear?" She sheepishly nodded
"Adorable"
"It smells like you"
I froze stopping at a red light and looking over. Seeing her nuzzle deeper into the bear. "Well why don't you just come over here than, you can cuddle with me." She shook her head and pointed to the now green light I cursed and she laughed. Her hand slowly reached over capturing mine she laid her head next to it. bringing the palm to her face and slowly inhaled. Then placed a kiss sending sparks everywhere my body reacting well to her touch. I pulled my hand back slowly stroking her head as her wolf purred in reply. She had completely ditched her walls. They didn't exist between us. She let me see all of her. This little child like side she kept well hidden. She never got a childhood. So in reality she had lots of those traits but knew better than to leave herself defenseless. When we finally arrived I looked over to see id put little Athena to sleep. I shook her shoulder lightly. She got up blinking her eyes than looking around. As soon as her eyes met mine again she smiled and melted me into goo. "Were here love." She looked out and when her eyes met the rides and lights they widen ever so slightly. Her excitement uncontainable as she quickly unbuckled practically flying out of the car. She opened my door dragging me out by the hand and pulling me along. Like always I willingly followed. "It's a fair" she whispered then her smile grew.
"Well what would you like to do first?" She looked around her eyes landing on a roller coaster that did flips and went upside down. She pointed frantically as she dragged me towards it like it would run away. Her child like state made me grin in satisfaction. She jumped in the first seat pulling me down next to her. Then slightly jumping in excitement, a permanent smile on her face. After we got off Athena ran around taking me to nearly every ride her excitement never dulled, she'd never been to a fair in fact I soon learned shed never seen a movie, gone to a swimming pool. Played sports. And I was determined to show her them all. After getting on a giant spin top I looked at my mate who was loosing energy but no excitement. "Do you want to go play some games?" I pointed to the stalls. "Yes!"
We walked over to this one where a small tin duck stuck upright. The human in the booth came up. "Hey there want to play?"
My mate nodded shyly, and the man chuckled. "So the rules are you get three balls and three shots to knock that little tin duck down, got it?" She nodded I handed the man a five so both of us could try it. I went first I wanted to get her another stuffed animal but I missed like all three times. And due to my pre cocky attitude this left Athena in a fit of laughter. "Yeah yeah bet you can't do any better." Athena stopped laughing and glared at me. She walked over flipping her hair and grabbing a ball zoning in. Before stopping and looking over. "What do I get if I prove you wrong?" I shrugged if I couldn't get it she couldn't possibly. "Anything you want" she smiled "sounds good" she refocused and brought her arm back. The throw looked like a professional pitch. And my eyes widened when the ball collided with the duck giving off a slight spark. "Anything I want" she mumbled. The man smiled then set up the contraption two more times and my little wolf got it two more times. "Anything I want" I was slightly regretting my deal. But she looked happy so my fear of whatever she wanted subsided as the manager handed her a stuffed bear this one being a cream color. She smiled walking up to me grabbing my hand. She extended the bear out and I grabbed it. "Want me to hold it?"
"No silly I want you to keep it"
I stopped are walking
"But I'm a guy"
She shrugged "so?"
"This is a teddy bear!" I stated exasperated
"You don't like it? How?" Her smile was gone. "It's so fluffy and cute" I nodded my head "like you so you should keep it." She eyed me taking the bear back and letting out a little *hmph* as she made a bee line to the Fares wheel. "Athena wait." She was already hoping in a cart. Damn she moved fast. She turned around glaring but as I slowly got in. But then she turned around looking out the window of the cart. "Athena"
"I want to talk to Eros" she mumbled
'Ha you screwed up she likes me more'
'Yeah'
'Hey it's not any fun if you don't fight back'
'Mm'
'Oh come on it's okay she'll forgive you'
'Just go'
'Fine next time just take the bear it was her first gift to us'
