The Assassins

Chapter 1

B O O M
3 shadows emerged from the smoke of the Lux Inc. building. The tallest figure was shouting orders at the other two and was calling out for the 4th member. The second tallest figure pulled off her bandana and said to the tallest figure,
"She didn't follow us. Me and Alex checked every inch of that place before we left!"
The tallest shouted,
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE DIDNT-UGH- Im going in for her. V. Guard the van. Alex, cover me but don't go in there with me."
The shortest figure looked at the second figure with a nervous face and ran back with the tallest figure. The two shadows entered the crumbking building while holding their troops signature bandanas over their mouths.
"CARMEN! WHERE -COUGh- ARE YOU?"
Alex screamed. Percy comforted Alex and held him close while they searched. They went up a almost completely ruined staircase and saw a young girl with long brown hair standing in the middle of the fire. Some of her clothing was on fire but it seemed as if she wanted it that way. Alex leaped away from Percy and to the girl without any caution dispite Percy's screams. Alex grabbed the girl and hugged her tightly. He started to cry and talk about how worried he was when Percy stepped in and grabbed them both by their shirts to run to safety quickly. The girl seemed to return back from her daydream and gazed at the burning wood in horror. The ceiling was just beginning to collapse when Percy found the exit. Percy released Alex And Carmen, and fell down due to his lack of energy.He ordered both of them to run out before the firefighters came. Carmen and Alex looked at one another and tried to form a plan without saying a word. Percy coughed once more and looked like he couldn't stand the heat any longer. Alex blinked back tears and ran to Percy as he tried to lift him up. Carmen began to shove the door open with her body as hard as she could. Growing weaker with each hit. Finally the door fell down and the girl went down with it. Alex limped out the hell hole and waved V. over to help them. Carmen stood up slowly and looked back at the glowing furnace they had come out of and wondered how they got out alive. V. grabbes Percy and made a mad dash towards the van they arrived in when the building wasn't on fire. She opened the back doors and set Percy on a chair while trying to find the emergency oxygen mask. Soon Alex and the girl climbed into the van and strapped themselves into a long black side seat in the van. When V. placed the oxygen mask on Percy and made sure he was breathing -in which he was- she did the same for the two youngest members and scrambled into the drivers seat. Alex took time to appreciate the fresh oxygen coming from the mask and watched the scenery move backwards as the van began to move. Carmen opened her eyes and began to look at Percy with concern. He had just risked his life to save her and she was the one who made him do it. If only....
"V. ... Red and Blue are coming..."
Alex huffed out and gazed at the front seat to see how V. would react. V. Sighed and slammed her foot onto the gas pedal.
"Doesnt matter. Is Percy still alive?"
V. Said, hearing her voice crack. Percy was the one who had to drive fast and have the plan, it was never supposed to be like this.
"Yes"
Alex and Carmen said in a drowsy unison. V. steered onto a dirt road behind a wide billboard in an attempt to ditch the cops trailing behind them. She held her breath and dreamed up a plan just in case things went south. The police car zoomed past them and V. Leaned back into the comfortable padded chair. She made the chair face the back of the van by pressing a button on the side of the chair. She looked at her band-well-more like Percy's band-of misfits with loving eyes. They were safe and asleep.
She gazed over at Percy and though about what would happen to his team if he wasn't rescued from the fire. She was always led by humalittle, even as kids when they first formed their team and ran away from uhome, he was the one to even think of running away. V. turned the chair back around and opened a metal drawer and pulled out a black folder. She opened it and took out a a paper with a little picture of the building they were in before they blew it up. V. took out a pencil and read the piece of paper.
"Lux Inc. ....Child target...Plan...Get kid out safe and then burn the building. No one except the kids dad will be there and him so it It will be fine."
V. Clicked the eraser on the pencil she had in her hand which changed the Lead tip to a Black marker and ran the marker over every word and wrote "FAIL" at the top of the paper. She dropped the paper on the floor and put her seat belt on. Even though they killed the kid accidentally, She still had to worry about the kids that were still here and alive.
