"They promoted me back! It looks like Regina wasn't as fit as I am for this job. They saw my project and loved it." Emma said walking in the apartment.
"That's great, Em!" Erica said. "My date with hgfrwcb is today!"
"Oh my God! It is!"
"What is hg and all of these other letters?" Alison asked closing the magazine that she was reading.
"Hot Guy From the Restaurant Who Called Back." Emma said.
"Oh, I thought it was Hippopotamus Got in Fight of Resistance and Won from Chameleon Band. But yours makes more sense."
"Why'd you think that, Ali?" Erica asked.
"Because it happened today at the zoo." She said going back to her magazine.
"Oh... ok. I'm gonna go get ready for my date!" Erica went on her room's door direction.
"Wait, Ery. Almost forgot. You won't believe who I just saw in the street."
"Who?"
"Alec Baker."
"Cut it out!" Erica said smiling. "I haven't seen him since forever."
"I know! He was totally into me when we were in high school."
"What? No! He liked me me."
"No way, you're confused."
"No, I'm sure."
"He was all over me, Erica. All the time."
"He went to my high school. He liked me."
"Just because he went to your high school doesn't mean he liked you."
"You know what? I have a dvd from a day that he went to my house and you were there. Let's discover who he was really into."
"Sounds like a good idea to me."
"But when I'm back from my date. And if we can find it in my room."
"I can look for it. I am so damn sure it was me."
"Okay, I'm gonna show it on your face that he wanted me. The DVD is defiantly in my room. Just don't know where. When I'm done getting ready you can look for it."
"Okay, great."
"Great. Ready to lose this one?" Erica vanished behind her door.
"Oh, you're the one losing!" Emma shouted.
She sat by Alison.
"Ali, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, what's up?"
"So, at the beginning of the week, I was super sad because of my job and everything and James comforted me."
"And..."
"And... for a split of second... I thought it wasn't such a bad idea to kiss him." Emma said biting her lip.
"It's ok, I wanted to kiss him on the past too."
"Really?"
"Yeah, he's attractive."
"Ok. Because I've been thinking about this the whole week and I just felt a little guilty about it."
"It's ok. You were vulnerable. He is hot. This is normal. Don't worry."
"Ok... thanks, Ali."
"Wait a second, what day is today? Is it past Tuesday?"
"Yeah..."
"In this case, do not kiss him Emma. You said it yourself. You're looking for a relationship."
"You're right, Ali. Thanks."
"Whenever you need me, I'm here. Just, please, do not wish to kiss me too."
"But you're so attractive, Ali." Emma said smiling.
"I know, I know." She replied the same way. "How are things going with you and David?"
"David! Oh my God, all that happened this week has distracted me so much I have barely talked to him."
"Do you like the guy?"
"Yeah... I'm gonna go talk to him." Emma said smiling.
"Go for it, girl."
Emma got up and opened the door, walking into the hallway. She knocked on David's door, he opened.
"Hey, look, I'm sorry about this week and everything, it's just that I got so distracted with work and my uncle going to the hospital..."
"It's fine, Em. It's fine." He said smiling and hugging her.
"Great."
"Do you wanna come inside?"
"I'd love to."
**
"You slept with the porn star from the apartment in front of Emma's?" Jack asked when James arrived from work.
"What? No!"
"Oh, yeah, then do we have a third roommate also called James who was stupid enough to give her our number?"
"Crap!"
"What about my cousin?"
"It was a stupid idea, ok? It's just last Sunday on the coffee house she hit on me when I went to the balcony and I let it happen..."
"Why? I mean last weekend you were so fallen..." James looked at him. "Liking my cousin that you couldn't even stand the fact that you had some other girl's phone number, then you sleep with a porn star?"
"It was a bad moment."
"Why... David was there, wasn't him? Emma's new boyfriend."
"Maybe..." James said looking to the floor.
"You got jealous of her! Again!"
"No, I didn't." Jack stared at him. "Okay, maybe a little."
"Oh, man. We have to find a way to break them up."
"I'm not breaking anyone up. What are we? Two fifteen year old girls?"
"No..."
"Who am I fooling? What's your plan?"
**
"Bye." Emma said leaving David's apartment.
"Sure you can't stay?"
"I have something that I need to do. But, if you be patient and wait until tomorrow, I'll..." she got closer to him and whispered something against his ear.
"Bye." He said closing the door. She laughed and got back into her apartment.
"Hey, Ali. Did Erica leave already?"
"Yes, and you seemed to have had a good time."
"Yeah. It was great."
"Why are you back so early?"
"I need to find the DVD. The one that Erica said she has."
"Really? You left a hot guy alone because of this?"
"Yeah..." Emma said looking to the floor. "I'm competitive, ok? I have to prove that I'm right."
"I feel sorry for whoever marries you. I'll help."
"Great. Thanks."
They got into Erica's room.
"Oh my God! How is it possible that she lived so long with aunt Monica and has a room like this?" Emma asked.
"I didn't know that there were this many colors in the world." Alison said looking at Erica's paints. "Now I see everything differently."
"C'mon, let's find this DVD."
**
"Guys..." Scott started getting into James' and Jack's apartment. "What are you guys doing?"
"Just... just eating ice cream."
"No, you were watching something."
"Fine! Fine! It was..." Jack said the rest of the sentence really low.
"What?"
"We were watching '10 things I hate about you'." Jack screamed.
Scott laughed.
"Can I ask why, you girls, were watching '10 things I hate about you'?"
"We were gonna come up with this plan to break Emma and David up so she could be with James..."
"Wait, did you know that he knew or you were just gonna tell him?" James asked looking at Jack.
"James, even two-tooth Chad, the guy on the street outside Emma's apartment, knows. Every time I pass by him he looks at me and asks: 'hey, baseball guy, how is your friend and the pretty girl from the building going? Did he chicken' out again?' and I say 'yes, two-tooth Chad. He did. Again.'"
"How can that guy speak anyways? He has only two teeth!" James said.
"Anyways, one thing led to another and next thing we were watching '10 things I hate about you' and eating ice cream." Jack said.
"Did you guys come up with anything?"
"No." James said.
"Emma just texted me to go to her apartment, I assumed she texted you guys too."
They looked at their phones.
"Oh, yeah, she did. Do you know what is it?"
"No. But we will find out. C'mon, let's go."
**
Erica got into the apartment.
"Uhh, the date wasn't good?" Alison asked.
"Oh, no, the date was amazing. Everything was amazing. I went with him to his apartment after the dinner."
"Then, why the face?" Emma asked. "The sex was awful? Is he one of those guys who cries after it? Because I had a boyfriend like that and it was horrible..."
"No. We didn't even get to that part. I left."
"Why?"
"Because, well, we got inside his apartment and everything was great and all. But, then, I saw I cockroach."
"No one killed it? Was it his pet?" Emma asked.
"Oh, no. It wasn't his pet. And he did kill it."
"Then, what was the problem?" Alison asked.
"He killed it. He killed it with his hands."
"Uh!" Emma and Alison said with a disgusted face.
"He killed it with his hands, passed them on his pants, turned to me and asked: where did we stop?"
"Oh, that was disgusting. But, I have something to cheer you up!"
"What?"
"I found the DVD! I called the boys they're coming."
"Can I eat popcorn?"
"Of course you can, honey."
"Cousin, I'm home." Jack said getting into the apartment, followed by James and Scott.
"Why did you call us here?" Scott asked.
"Because... I found this!" She said holding the DVD up.
"What's that?" Scott asked.
"It's a video from when me, Erica, and Jack were little. I'm gonna prove to Erica that Alec Baker hit on me when we were kids."
"No, he hit on me." She said from the kitchen.
"Oh! I wanna watch that." Jack said.
"I've got the popcorn!" Erica yelled.
"Let's go." Alison and Scott said together.
They all sat in front of the TV.
"Okay... here we go."
The video started playing. Jack's face appeared on the camera.
"Hi, my name is Jack Geller and today is March 12th. That's how my day is going." He started walking around with the camera.
"Oh! This video is from that time that you wanted to be a movie director and would record everything!" Erica said looking at Jack. "When was that? Ninth grade?"
"Yeah." Jack said smiling. They looked back to the video.
Young Jack started talking again.
"So, today, my family is all here at my house. I'm gonna go upstairs where my sister, my cousin, and my friend Alec are." He started to run up the stairs. Stoped in front of a white door and opened it. "Hey. Where's Erica?"
"She went to get something for us to eat." Emma said.
"Oh, great." Jack sat on the floor and put his camera by him, recording Emma and Alec.
"So, how is the big city?" Alec asked.
"It's great. I love it. So much stuff to do." Emma said.
"Ah, I imagine that a girl as pretty as you has a lot of stuff to do on the weekends, right?"
"Ah, Alec, that's so sweet. I always hang out with my friends."
"Your friends? Not a boyfriend?"
"Oh, no. I'm single."
"How?"
Emma smiled.
"See? He was clearly hitting on me!" Emma said in the living room.
"That's true. Sorry, Ery." Alison said.
"Keep watching." Erica said.
"I don't think the past will change if we keep watching it, Ery." Emma said.
"Just keep watching."
They turned back to the TV. In the video, Erica got into the room.
"I found chips."
"Great." Alec said.
"Oh, Ery, I'm kind of in the middle of a diet. Your mom still have those little carrots?" Emma asked.
"Yeah, they're downstairs."
"Ok, I'll go grab them. I'll be back in a sec."
Emma left the room.
"So, Alec, did you do the math homework yet?"
"Uh, no. And I probably won't."
"I know! It's so big."
"Big for guys like me. But you're so smart. It must be really easy for you."
"Oh, thanks." Erica said smiling.
"How can you be so beautiful and so smart? I thought you could only be one of them."
"Ah, Alec, stop." She said smiling and hitting his arm.
"I mean it."
Emma got back in the room.
"Hey..."
Jack interrupted her.
"Wanna go play baseball, Alec?"
"Sure."
They both got up and the recording ended.
"Was he hitting on me or not?" Erica said.
"Ohhh, he hit on both of you." Alison said.
"I can't believe this." Emma said.
"What? The guy was a player." Jack said.
"Did he get to hook up with any of you?" Scott asked.
"I hooked up with him in Erica's sweet sixteen party." Emma said.
"No, you didn't! I can't believe it!" Erica said.
"What?"
"I hooked up him in my sweet sixteen."
"I like this guy. He's a good player." James said smiling.
"I can't believe this!" Erica said. "You knew I liked him."
"Maybe I liked him too."
"No, you didn't."
"Ok, no, but he was hot and I thought you and him would never happen."
"Oh, really? Why?"
"Because... because you would always turn to this super awkward Erica every time we were around him."
"Hey, hey." Alison said. Everyone looked at her. "Do you guys have cookies?"
"I can't believe you, Emma." Erica said.
"Girls, don't fight with each other. It was a long time ago. You didn't know that the other would hook up with him. He knew. You should blame him." James said.
"You know what? That's true." Erica said. "Son of a bitch."
"You're blaming him?" Emma asked looking at James. "You just said you liked him."
"Doesn't mean that he's right. He's a jerk."
"Yeah, he's a jerk." Erica said. "I'm sorry, Em. I love you, cousin."
Erica hugged Emma. Emma mouthed to James a "Thank you" and he smiled to her.
"Anyways, guys, I'm gonna take off because I have to wake up early tomorrow."
"Tomorrow is Saturday." Scott said.
"Oh, yeah... I have to sign some papers with my lawyer tomorrow morning."
"Why?" Alison asked.
"He's selling his dad's international car company." Jack said rolling his eyes.
"Oh, no, James. Why?" Emma said.
"Because I don't wanna owe him anything. I don't wanna know that my success is because of him."
"I see this as him paying his debts for what he did to you. And never that your success would be because of anyone besides you. If you want this I really think you should keep it. Not loose it because of your dad. He already did a enough bad stuff with you." Emma said getting closer to him.
"Thanks, Ems. I'll think about it."
She smiled. He smiled back.
"Bye, everyone. C'mon, Jack. I'm your ride."
"Oh, yeah. That's right. Bye, everyone."
"Bye."
"I'm gonna go too." Scott said. "Bye, girls."
"Bye, Scott."
All the boys left and Emma put the DVD back in its case.
"I'm gonna lay down, I need a rest after all the cockroach thing. Goodnight."
"Night." Emma said.
"If everyone is leaving, I'm leaving too." Alison said.
"Wait, Ali... you know how I told you earlier about that thing that I had with James? What if I tell you that I just had another one, right now."
"Oh, yeah, I could sense that."
"Really?"
"Em, everyone in this building could sense that."
"Is it weird?"
"No! It's totally fine. You need to worry less about this. But remember, do not give into it. You know that he can't do what you want."
"Okay... thanks, Ali."
"No, problem, Em. Bye."
"Bye, Ali."
Alison left the apartment and Emma looked at the TV for a moment. She put the DVD back in and turned it on. She, Erica, and Jack popped up on the TV.
"Oh, I guess it had some more. Oh, god, look at Erica's eyebrows!" She said laughing. "I'm alone. There's no one to look."
"Uncle Ross gave us the idea to surprise mom on her birthday so we're taking breakfast in bad to her." Jack said.
"I picked the flower!" Emma said.
"Shhh." Erica said and they got next to the door. "On three..." She whispered. "one... two... three..."
They opened the door. Monica and Chandler got out of under the sheets with messy hair and scared expressions.
"We made you breakfast, mom." Jack said. "Happy birthday."
"Oh, that's so sweet kids. You know, your dad was just giving me a massage. Can you guys wait out for a little second, please?"
Emma laughed in her living room.
"Ohhh, this mister was giving no massage to her." She said smiling. "He forgot to lock the door." She completed putting popcorn in her mouth.
After the door closed. The kids looked to the camera and Monica's voice came from inside the room.
"You forgot to lock the door!"
"I said it! I said it!" Emma screamed almost throwing all the popcorn in the floor.
