Having one HP really, really sucks. Sans is constantly dodging life threatening situations where he could find himself on a dustpan. Papyrus often watches him like a literal hawk when decides to go down the stairs.
The worst thing is that because he has only one HP, he is only looking forward to one thing. And that's Papyrus, his loving brother.
It hasn't changed in a while.
Papyrus knows this. Sometimes, when he thinks Sans isn't paying attention, he CHECKS him.
Sans
HP: 1/1
ATK: 1
DEF: 1
* Deep in thought.
Papyrus often wondered what Sans was thinking about. He wouldn't know, because he never asked. It was as if Sans was a book that couldn't be read correctly as if it was his own little language. But sometimes that language could be decoded.
And this is where our story begins.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"SANS! Wake up! It's morning." Papyrus said, knocking at the door of his brother. "I'm going to Undyne's today so I'll be gone most of the day."
The response he got was a quiet "okay" muffled by the door.
But even past the some what muted word, he could tell that this wasn't going to be a great day for his brother. He could hear it in his voice. Must have been another nightmare.
"I'm leaving now, so take care of the house(yourself) while I'm gone. Bye!"He practically bolted down the stairs, just as a child would on Christmas. He wanted to get Undyne's oddly satisfying cooking lesson over with to take care of his brother.
His walk to the Riverperson was eerily quiet. Could be because it was 4 AM in the morning. A little jaunt and he was there.
"Tra-la-la where would you like to go?"
"Waterfall, please."
"Alright. Off we go~ Tra-la-la."
He sat down as the boat began to move. The Riverperson guided her boat to the section for crossing to Waterfall.
(A/N Riverperson is a girl. Deal with it)
" Tra-la-la~ a light shines brightest in the dark. Tra-la-la."
Papyrus pondered that for a little. The Riverperson was known to tell her passengers weird sayings that were oddly true. This was oddly true. Though the saying made him think about his brother. His amazing, funny, younger brother. Papyrus wanting nothing more to spoil him rotten, because he deserved so much more than they had, but Sans was extremely modest. And shy.
(A/N Sans is the younger brother. I don't care about you saying " But Sans is the older one!" Younger is little. Sans is smol.)
And because of this, Sans doesn't get out very much. He usually stays inside his room, doing what Asgore knows what, but still finding time to always help his older brother out.
"Tra-la-la we have arrived."
Looking up, he saw the beautiful rivers and waterfalls of, Waterfall (Everyone had known Asgore had not been the best at naming things). Papyrus made his way to where Undyne was.
Finally, he had found it. a house that looked like a fish, which was owned by a fish. He politely knocked on the door, and sure enough the devil herself was there. "Hey punk! Ready for our cooking lesson?" He gave a hardy salute to her, " Yes Captain!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Terrible. Awful. Horrendous, Monotonous, Peachy. All words to describe what Sans' day was going to be. He could feel it in his bones(heh). Now he just stared at the ceiling, and then glanced at the clock, when said 3:42. Papyrus would be up and about soon off to Undyne's cooking lesson.
Sure enough He heard a knock at the door. He quietly said "okay" trying to sound fine, but his voice cracked a little bit.
He knew his brother could tell it was gonna be rough for him too.
After he heard the swoosh of the door opening and closing he let out a sigh. He felt like doing absolutely nothing. He was just so tired. You would think that he the lazy one would never be tired. But he was.
Narcolepsy and insomnia were not a good match. He couldn't sleep at night, and if he did, he would be awoken by nightmares, and in the day he would randomly fall alseep. Just perfect. Right now would be a good time to go to Grillby's, but of course, it wasn't opened yet. Just 2 more hours of doing absolutely nothing it is then.

FanficHaving 1 HP really sucks. Having said that, most of Sans' life really sucks. In order for him to survive he needs to be hopeful of at least one thing. Kinda hard when you're already dealing with other emotional crap.
