The teenage drive to be different is beyond explanation. We all have a need to feel special in our lives, noticed, attention worthy. Some people even enjoy the bad attention they get.
I never enjoyed attention. There has yet to be one day in my life where I have enjoyed attention. It's always been negative for me. And my sisters.
I'm a triplet, you see. I've always recieved attention for it, as well. How does it feel to be a triplet? Are you really identical? Do you share everything? Can you read each others thoughts? Are you natural, or did your mom take drugs? You get the idea.
It's never really attention towards me, either. Just what I am. I feel like an item of public interest, always being observed by tourists. No one has ever asked me directly how I feel about anything, or even explored my personality past my being a triplet. Everyone just asks my mom questions, while staring my sisters and I down like we're animals.
It hurts.
But the one thing people have asked me, the one thing, entails what I am doing now. They ask me if I'm going to write a book about being a triplet. About my life story. About what it's like to have siblings the same age as you with the same face. I had always laughed it off, uncomfortable with sharing how I really feel about it.
But then recently, I read a book. The book was about truth, honesty, and justice- even if it might insult someone in the end. So, here I am. About to share my thoughts on my life in a sort of Auto-biography type story, with a little bit of fiction. However, everything I'm about to tell you has a truth to it.
Whoever you are, reading this, I can only hope you read this with an open mind, and an open heart. Think about how you would be if you were in my situation. Do you think your personality would be different? Would you love your fellow same-aged siblings? Would you like the attention?
And if you are a triplet, twin, etc., can you relate?
Seriously. Really think about it.
Without further ado, here is the truth to being a multiple in a nutshell.
