When her grandpa got home that night she quickly stripped and shifted into her wolf. This time, she heard a soft voice say 'Sorry I wasn't here earlier, I was a bit busy talking to the moon goddess. Any who, I'm your wolf Layla. I wasn't here because the MG- that's the Moon Goddess- anyway, she was explaining how your supposed shift and stuff. I didn't know since I was just born this morning.'
'Do you ever not ramble?' Elliana thought, chuffing with laughter.
'Only sometimes. You can block me out by thinking of walls around your thoughts, but don't do that right n-' Elliana put up mental barriers and went trotting down the stairs to greet her Grandpa. Her grandparents were waiting at the bottom of the steps, and when she came down they stroked her soft white fur coat.
"What a beautiful wolf, just like her father." Elliana's grandpa said, smiling gently at her.
Elliana let down the barriers around Layla and thought
"Hey, Laya let's have some fun with this, he doesn't know about us being a wereshifter!"
She thought about her black wolf, and a wave of tingles rippled through her. A gasp rose from her grandpa's throat. "Now, I'm human, your Grandma's a werewolf, that made your mother a hybrid. When she told us about your father, she said he was something called a wereshifter. I never understood what that meant, but this must be what it is. You can change your wolf!" Laya huffed in my mind and said 'think of a different animal. Oh, I know! A black bear!' Elliana thought about the glossy black fur, a soft brown snout, the beady eyes, and the lumbering frame. She felt that same shock of pain through her body and collapsed to the floor. When she got up, she was heavier and clumsier. A shocked gasp came from both her grandparents as they saw the massive bear in front of them.
"Not just a wolf then," said her grandpa and he winked at her. She let out an amused grunt and turned back into a wolf. She flicked her tail and turned to trot back upstairs to find some clothes and turn back into a human.
