The Sun is Bright

It was crying. All I could hear from underneath the bed was crying. It was sobbing silently, but when I came to a fuller alertness it started heaving in and out taking deeper breaths. At first its tears were filled with sorrow, but then the bawling soon turned sinister as fists could be heard pounding on the floor.
My body was seemingly nailed to the bed and I couldn't even crane my neck to locate the noise. Slowly rising from the floor was a girl about 10 years old holding her hands close to her face.
"Why don't you love me anymore!?"
I woke up with a jolt, as if I was falling and immediately hit the ground. I rolled over into an empty spot next to me with an impression of my mother's body. I reluctantly climbed out of bed and cringed as my feet touched the cool ground.
Downstairs I could hear mumbling and the clatter of plates being loaded into the sink. I walked downstairs to a kitchen completely decorated with paintings and coffee mugs hanging from hooks. Lara was pouring herself a cup of coffee from a pot I didn't recognize and placing bagels into a toaster.
"Good morning Ari. How'd ya sleep hon?" my mom asks me as she continues putting plates away.
"Fine, I guess." I huff as I sit down at the breakfast bar and decide to pour myself some coffee. Of course I didn't even understand why I got myself some considering we didn't have any creamer and it tasted horrible.
"Sorry to hear that hon. I'm going out with Lara today to pick up the rest of the furniture and stuff. You can come if ya like."
"That's okay mom. Actually, did you happen to bring my bag over yet? I have some assignments I wanna finish before break's over." I add as I take another swig and scrunch my face in disgust.
"Was it yellow with stripes going down the sides?" Lara chimes in, directing her gaze to the front room.
I turn around to find my bag sitting right next to a potted plant near the front door. I jog over and sling it very my shoulder heading back upstairs to my room.
"Ari, do you want your phone back?" My mom teases from the bottom of the stairs. I turn back around to see her shaking it side to side with her hand on her hip. I rolled my eyes and trudge back down the stairs. "WiFi password is already set in for ya," she adds with a wink. How... did she get into my phone in the first place? I quickly head back into my room and decide to switch my password just in case my mom snags my phone again.
I log into my SnapChat and chuckle to myself when I see Zoe snapped me 20 times.
SISTA: Dudddeee... Why u no open my snaps:(
Instead of texting her, because that's obviously too much strain on my thumbs, I FaceTime her and explain her the story.
"Wait, so are you still coming back to school on Monday!?" Zoe practically screams through the phone.
"Yea. We aren't far from the other house so I'll still be going to the same school." Relief floods her face and she offers me a genuine smile.
"Good. I don't know what I'd do without ya Ari." I smile back at her just as the call abruptly ended due to my sucky connection. I sigh and try to call her back but it refuses to connect. I give up after a few more attempts and decide to work on my English project instead.
I don't know how I didn't realize it, but my mom brought up a chair and placed it next conveniently next to my window. I decided to sit there and work on my project instead of being on the bed where I guarantee I would have fell asleep. I opened up my portfolio just as a quick blur moving outside the window caused my head to snap up in confusion. I looked out the window to see one single tree in the field. I stared intently at it and got up to look around the rest of the backyard.
Finding no other trees, I sat back down and just stared at it, completely baffled by the random sprout. Well that certainly wasn't there before.
I reopened my portfolio, set on actually doing my work, when the doorbell rang. Hesitantly I slipped off the chair and descended into the front room. I opened the door to find nothing but the afternoon sun and floating clouds. I was about to close the door when I saw box with an attached note. I scrunched my face in confusion and picked it up.
This will make sense when the time comes.

I find myself slightly shaking for no apparent reason. I can't recall knowing anyone with those initials and the message couldn't be more vague. I slowly close the door behind me and place the box on the kitchen counter refusing to look further into the matter.
Juggling snacks in my hands, I go back upstairs into my room. All the snacks tumble to the ground as stand immobile and speechless in my doorway. Everything in my room has been rearranged and before me stands a young girl tending to the sheets on the bed.
"Well that wasn't very nice of you to change my room."
