I couldn't eat. I don't think I wanted to eat. I sat at the table with a plate piled high with fries dressed with loads of ketchup. My mom kept looking in my direction perplexed that I hadn't touched any of my fries.
"Those fries, they're getting cold honey."
What in the actual heck is wrong with me? Better yet, what is this house's problem? This is the first time in ages were the thought of me having to eat at all is making me queasy.
"Sorry, I thought I was hungry but I'm feeling a little nauseous." My mom looked at me with her right eyebrow perched higher waiting for further explanation.
"Hey, we are all girls here Ari... Are you on your-"
"No Mom! Oh my gosh stop, you don't need to ask something like that in a public place!"
"Okay, okay. I just wanted to check 'cause we don't have anything at home for-"
"Okay Mom enough!" I whined as Lara chuckled at my obvious embarrassment. Just leave it to my mom to bring up something like that in front of what might as well be a complete stranger.
My mom eventually decided to leave me alone and I couldn't help but be completely consumed by my thoughts. I continued searching my brain for anyone with the initials RL but I couldn't think of anyone. I snapped out of my daze when I realized I was staring hard core at this little girl a couple tables away. My mom always told me staring was rude so I was naturally averting my eyes to look away but I didn't, I couldn't. Something about her captivated me and I couldn't look away. Then a sudden realization hit me and I was washed over by a wave of fear as I recognized the face. It was her. She smiled at me and I swore I heard her say come back home so we can play and she extended her hand and I felt the urge to take it.
"Ari can you please look at me when I talk to you." My eyes snapped back to my mother but I wasn't fully paying attention yet.
"I said do you want to come back home so you can stay in bed or do you want to come to the store with us?" My mom repeated while finishing up the last of her salad.
"Yeah, I'll go back home and play... I mean stay. Yeah, I'll stay." By this point my mom was pretty concerned and thought that maybe she should stay home but I told her I'd be alright once I got some medicine in me.
The entire ride home was filled with discussions between Lara and my mom but I was so caught up in my thoughts that everything was muffled. I saw her. I saw the girl and she had to be real. Once I started replaying the scene over and over again, I realized what my mom repeated sort of sounded like the girl's remark but I didn't want to believe that. For some reason I wanted her to be real...

I could feel myself slowly falling asleep even though it was barely 7 but I felt drained. My mom finished getting whatever bags were left in the house and Lara picked up whatever furniture should fit in her truck. Mom would come in every now and then to check up on me and drop of some of my things and I greeted her with a weak smile. I decided to check my phone to keep myself occupied and opened up Snapchat to talk to some friends.
