Chapter One
I sat in math class waiting to get my test back. The score would decide weather or not my parents would pay for me to take guitar lessons or not. It was pretty depressing how I couldn't even pay for my own guitar lessons. I had a job, but it didn't pay well. I was a waitress at a little family restaurant two blocks from where I lived. In Parma,Ohio. It was actually a pretty gross place. They re used coffee and rolls. Like, ew. But I didn't quit because no one else would hire me.
My teacher called my name and I walked across the room to get to her desk. The walk of fate. I took my test and rushed back to my seat. I slowly turned the paper over.
A 'C'.
No dice. My parents wanted an 'A'. Two letter grades to low. I sighed and put my face in my hands. 'Oh well. Just another failure to add to the pile. I played with my cartilage earring to see if it still hurt. Nope. I continued turning it. Then the final bell rang and i ran out of the room. I jogged down the hallway to my locker, but bumped into something hard. I was dazed so didn't notice I had my hands resting on someones chest.
"Ahem." They said. It was a guys voice. I slowly looked up to see a boy with brown curly hair smirking down at me. He had dazzling green eyes, and that smirk could kill me if I stared any longer. I cleared my throat and took a step back, moving my hands from his chest.
"Sorry..." I mumbled, and started to walk around him. But suddenly he grabbed my wrist and turned me to face him.
"Why haven't I seen you around before?" His face turned into a smile. I felt butterflies in my stomach. His smile was to die for. "I-I ugh...I'm a junior." He let go of my wrist. "I'm Ashton, a senior. What's your name babe?" He also had a killer Australian accent. "Skyla." He smiled and stepped closer to me.
"That's a lovely name. Mind if I call you Sky?" He kept getting closer so I backed away, eventually I bumped into a set of lockers. Then I noticed there was no one else in the hallway. Ashton was now o close my face was almost rubbing against his chest. I looked straight ahead. He chuckled and stepped a half step back, taking my chin in his free hand, the other holding a textbook and folder. My face was hot.
"Ya know Sky, you're pretty cute." He leaned close to my face and 99% sure he was about to kiss me, I quickly tried to run away. But he harshly grabbed my wrist again and threw me against a locker. "I wasn't done talking to you. Rude." He growled. Now a bit scared, I squeezed my eyes shut. Ashton took my bag off my shoulder and I felt myself being lifted off the ground. I could feel Ashton's body against mine. I opened my eyes to see we were now eye level. I had no where to look except his sparkling eyes. I noticed snake bites on his bottom lip.
He ran his hands up my thighs and to my butt. That's where I drew the line. I reached up and slapped him. He didn't move. He put me down without looking at me. He picked up my bag and found my phone. I went to grab it, but he moved away swiftly. After some typing he threw it back into my bag. He pushed his body against mine, back into the lockers.
"I'll be seeing you, Sky." He smirked, and left without another word. I noticed as he walked down the hall he had tattoos going up his muscly arms. I stood, dazed by the events that just took place. I shook it off, and headed home. At least I tried to.
Chapter Two
I sat on my bed with my headphones on. I was doing Social Studies homework, or at least trying. I kept thinking of what had happened earlier with that senior, Ashton. Then I got a text. I figured it was Jenna. My best and only friend. I picked up my iPhone to see it wasn't from her, but...Ashton?
'Hey babe ;) -Ash'How'd he get my-oh right. He took my phone earlier.
'Hi -Lala'
'Lala?lmao -Ash'
'Shut up... -Lala'
He didn't respond for awhile so I figured he was done with me. I decided to take a shower.
When I got out, I had three texts waiting. All from Ashton.'Why did you only have three contacts? -Ash'
'Helooooo? -Ash'
'Answer me Sky! -Ash'
I sighed and replied.
'I don't have any friends to put in there. Just mom, work and Jenna. -Lala'
Again, no reply. I walked over to the mirror and played with my hair. 'Maybe if I swooped my bangs, and added some volume...' I was always trying to change my look. The clothes and makeup I wore made people see me as peppy, and cute. But I wasn't. At least...I didn't think I was. I liked band tank tops and skinny jeans. Not V-Necks and leggings. I decided to take a chance and wear what I wanted tomorrow. Not what I thought people wanted me to wear.
I picked out a Rolling Stones tank top with black shorts when I got a text. From Ashton.
'Oh. I don't have a lot of friends either. They're all back in Australia. -Ash'
'I'm sorry...-Lala'
'It's ok. I get by. Plus now I have you ;) -Ash'
I rolled my eyes and didn't reply. I went back to my outfit choices. If I wanted to be myself, I had to start somewhere. And clothes seemed like a good place to do so.
