We were young souls getting lost in a maze of hopes.
My hands were tied to hers, we laughed and we cried as we wandered in this crazy world. She looked at me and smiled. Oh how beautiful, I thought. Her fears lead place to a whole new girl, independent and strong. A girl who won't be afraid to kiss me in public, a girl who will be proud to show her ethnicity.
We ran away, chasing our dreams.
We ran away, chased by our realities. It felt so good, I was free and peaceful. For one time, I could really say to myself, that is why I'm alive. That is why I persisted. I'm not surviving anymore, I'm enjoying life at its fullest.
I checked down at her. Black strands of hair sticked to her forehead, happiness dropped from her eyes to her cheeks. Her smile, bigger than ever, and eyes so bright they could light up the whole city. That, my friend, is what I call being happy.
We lighted firecrackers, letting them guide our bloody souls towards an impossible world, where people would all be different and yet it would be normal. I looked up at the sky, clouds were hiding the stars. We laid on the wet grass, our arms stretched out towards the sky. I looked down at our wrists, covered with the scars of our artworks.
We were incredible artists. Drawing on our skin with sharp knives. Slowly letting the blood paint our arms. Creating a piece of work that just won't fade away.
[how come does my brain comes up with all those crazy thoughts?]
