It's a high pitched chirp what finally awakens the princess. She opens her eyes and looks around her room, light fights the curtains to get in and loses; the princess uses her magic to lift the curtains from the windows and a flash of light blinds her briefly; as her eyes adjust to the light, she goes to her mirror, she looks at herself and her reflection looks back with beady orange eyes, she inhales and exhales slowly before heading to the window closest to her bed and looks over the big city of Canterlot, ponies walk, run and fly through it in all directions, filling it with life.

"Lovely day." she says, a tone of joy in her voice, she puts her crown on her head and brushes her mane, effortlessly getting it ready for the day ahead, no matter what she did, she always managed to keep her mane pretty.

She closes all windows and heads through her bedroom door, where the captain of the royal guard awaits patiently.

"It's a beautiful day outside today princess," says Blitz Ray, captain of the royal guard, "and might I add your highness, that today you look rather splendid today." he says smiling wide at the princess.

"You look good too captain Blitz, but I suggest you remember that the helmet is part of your formal attire." says the princess while nodding at the white helmet that lies in the floor next to Blitz Ray, Blitz lets out a nervous laugh and stumbles for the helmet "Sure thing princess, won't happen again." His smile gets wider and his eyes shine bright behind his red hair, which is now messy under his helmet, "You keep up the good work captain."

"Consider the work done goodly." he says enthusiastically, raising one hoof to the top of his head saluting goofily, "Oh princess, I almost forgot, princess Blizzard Drop sent a message requesting that I remind you that prince Blaze Shine will arrive today."

"Of course, thanks for the reminder captain." says the princess smirking sweetly, how could she forget that the prince was coming over?

"Only doing my job madam." he says tipping his helmet, which makes the princess giggle slightly, the princess smiles at him before returning to her morning walk through the castle.

She has always liked to walk around this big castle as soon as she wakes up, it helps her clear her mind and check on all the staff living and working there, making sure to stop by everyone and wish them a good morning to start their day.

She always makes sure to leave the castle courtyard last, until after she's had her breakfast, because it's her favorite part; she loves looking at the statues that decorate said courtyard, her favorites are one depicting six mares in a group hug and one of her grandmother, princess Celestia.

She walks down the main aisle, which is decorated with various stained glass windows, these depict various stories that to her people are now but mere legends, the same mares which are immortalized in a stone group hug just outside the castle are shown fighting all kinds of foes, some even depict a purple dragon that she recognizes from her time spent in the crystal empire and others show her grandmother and her sister, she's grown used to them by now, but when she was just a filly, she used to stare at them all day, lost in the vibrant colors and fantastic tales this windows told. She finally arrives at the castle door, the door is many times bigger than she is, but with her magic, she manages to open it quite easily,

"Good morning Sunshine Dust." says the princess to a mare with a purple coat, big blue eyes and shiny pink hair under her guard helmet.

"Good morning to you princess," says the young guard, smiling cutely before tilting her head to the side looking confused "If you don't mind me asking, why are you leaving so early? You usually leave the castle about an hour later than this, regularly." The princess smiles excitedly at this question.

"Well, glad you asked, I'm picking up my cousin at the train station this morning so in order to get there on time I'll delay breakfast for a little while." Says the princess, and just then, a thought suddenly rose to her head "Say, Sunshine Dust, would you like to accompany me to the train station?"

"You mean like escort you?" asks Sunshine, flattered and confused all at once, "Well, I was thinking more of a 'because we're friends' kind of reason." says the princess smiling "We're almost the same age after all." She says, as a matter of fact;

Despite being the princess and having to rule the kingdom of equestria all on her own, she was only 24 years old, really close to Sunshine Dust who recently turned 22. "Yes princess, I would like to keep you company on your way to the train station." says Sunshine smiling, the princess smiles back and they start walking toward the gate.

As they walk through the courtyard, the princess spots the statue of those six mares in the stone hug and smirks, she knows that it's more than just a hug, she knows that deep down there is true friendship in that cold still stone statue, she then looks at Sunshine Dust and gives her a small brief hug, Sunshine Dust is a little startled at first, but it doesn't take her much time to return the hug, they both smile and walk outside of castle grounds into the busy city of Canterlot where the train station is.

The princess thinks back to what her mother used to say, 'There is a powerful magic in every small actions we do.' and smiles.
